ARC FLASH BOOK COMING! I am writing the most practicable, simple, and detailed book based on real incidents, IEEE and NFPA: A Preview!

I have been contacted by a few people, universities, and companies asking if I have some materials detailing the contents of my posts and articles.

After receiving several emails over 12 months, I decided to write a series of books and booklets. The first one will be about the electrical arc flash topic.

100 books have been preordered for a petrochemical company in the Freeport/Sweeny Area in Texas. More preorders are currently in talks with some corporate employees in Chiba, China, and the Palm String area, California.

Throughout my experience, I struggled to find excellent books on power systems theories for the following reasons:

1- Many books are too technical. It does not mean they are not helpful; they just require a great deal of expertise to understand or appreciate them. When you are trying to build a solid foundation, those books are too advanced.

2- Many books are too academic. How we learn in school is vastly different from how we should learn in the industry.

3- Most books are not practical. They lack real-life examples to capture attention for long-term memory.

4- There are a few more reasons.

I decided to write books not geared toward theory but practice. Minimal theory and maximal practice with actual real-life data.

What will this first book cover on arc flash?

• Explanation of arc flash in a practical way.
• How to perform an arc flash assessment.
• The roles of all the bodies in the USA involved in an arc flash topics: IEEE, OSHA, NFPA.
• How to read and interpret an arc flash label.
• Significant errors done by engineering firms: How to catch them?
• 1 real-life example: death during an arc flash incident and significant error revealed by the relay and software simulation.
• BONUS of this book: I will provide schematics data from the electrical facility that sustained 1 arc flash death caused by a study error. We will build it together via ETAP and SKM software. That will allow learning how to build the simulation model while actually doing arc flash studies.
