The education sector has undergone a major change due to the integration of technology. One of the latest innovations in educational technology is the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance student learning and performance.?

Advanced Learning World (ALW) is a digital learning platform for K-12 students that provides flexible and personalized education services, including live webcasts and sessions, recorded lessons, and live classes.

To further enhance student performance, ALW sought to develop cutting-edge AI technology to analyze student performance in various subjects and provide personalized guidance and support. With our experience in EdTech and AI, Arbisoft’s partnership with ALW seemed like a perfect fit.

Arbisoft & ALW: Joining Forces for the Future of EdTech

During the partnership, Arbisoft wound up developing a digital learning platform for ALW that included two key features to enhance student learning:?

  1. Personalized Actions Recommendation System (ARS)
  2. Digital Tutor?(DT)

The Personalized Actions Recommendation System analyzed student performance data and generated individualized recommendations to improve student skills. The system tracked student progress and adapted to their evolving needs.?The Digital Tutor, on the other hand, designed to resemble a digital human, served as a student mentor and provided guidance and support on various tasks.

The objective of ALW was to raise the bar for student education and performance by incorporating state-of-the-art technology. ALW intends to achieve this goal by integrating AI solutions developed by Arbisoft into its platform.?Let’s now take a closer look at these solutions and how they contribute to the learning experience:

The Personalized Actions Recommendation System (ARS): Functionality & Benefits

The Arbisoft team designed the Personalized ARS for ALW to consider various parameters, including student attendance, daily learning objectives, assignments, and exams, to create a comprehensive performance picture of each student.

Based on this information, the system generated personalized recommended actions for each student, including watching recorded live sessions, reviewing lesson content, and attempting practice questions.

By providing a comprehensive performance picture of each student, the ARS was able to offer personalized recommended actions, leading to numerous benefits for both the students and the educators alike. Helping address their strengths and weaknesses, the ARS highlighted areas for improvement, leading to better academic outcomes.

The ARS also benefited educators by providing insights into student performance and enabling them to adjust their teaching methods to meet student needs in a more effective way.

a. Live Session Analysis

The ARS analyzed three key factors to improve student performance in live sessions:?

  • Attendance
  • Subject reinforcement score?
  • Recorded live sessions

The system used a sophisticated algorithm to identify student attendance as well as performance data patterns and make recommendations accordingly, including improving attendance in live sessions, reviewing recorded sessions, and focusing on specific sessions or lessons.

b. Lesson Analysis

The ARS also analyzed student performance in specific lessons and provided recommendations for future actions. This analysis considered a student's performance and completion status in five Learning Path events, including warm-ups, engagements, summaries, and exercises.

The Digital Tutor (DT): How it Works

In addition to the ARS for ALW, Arbisoft also developed a chatbot-based AI technology Digital Tutor (DT). The DT served as a virtual mentor for students and was integrated into ALW’s educational platform. It provided students with a personalized learning experience and allowed them to communicate with the DT in a natural language form to get answers to academic questions, including mathematics. The chatbot also provided students with a weekly progress report.

Perhaps the best part about the DT was that it offered students a virtual mentor whom they could interact with in a manner similar to communicating with an actual teacher. It also provided students with a personalized learning experience that was tailored to their specific needs and abilities.

For educators, the DT provided a valuable tool to gain insights into students’ performance by tracking their interests and identifying patterns and trends. By leveraging these insights, educators could adjust their teaching methods and personalize their approach to each student, leading to more effective teaching instruction and hence, improved results.

The technology behind the DT included a customizable database, which can be trained on custom data sets, ensuring that the chatbot provides accurate and current information. In the event that an answer cannot be found in the database with high confidence, the chatbot also has the capability to retrieve answers from Google.

Built on cutting-edge chatbot AI technology, the DT is available in two different versions, one for male students and one for female students, to enhance user experience.?Currently, the DT supports Arabic and English languages but can be extended to additional languages as well.

Arbisoft’s Technology Stack

Our technology stack includes a variety of powerful tools and frameworks such as Python, RASA, NLP, SerpAPI, Text-to-Speech, Sitepal Digital Character, Speech-to-Text, and Symbolic AI.?

These tools help us create AI-based solutions that can understand, analyze, and generate human language, provide valuable insights into SERP data, enhance user experience, and make personalized recommendations.

1. Python

Python is a popular language for building AI tools because of its simplicity, versatility, and abundance of libraries and frameworks available for AI development. Its syntax is intuitive and easy to learn, making it accessible to a wide range of developers.

The large community of developers using Python means that there is a wealth of resources and support available, from documentation to tutorials and pre-trained models. Additionally, many popular AI and machine learning libraries, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and sci-kit-learn, are written in Python and have strong support for the language.

3. NLP (Natural Language Processing)

The goal of NLP is to develop algorithms and models that can understand, analyze, and generate human language. At Arbisoft, NLP is used in our chatbot business logic and also to evaluate math queries (i.e. MQR).

4. SerpAPI

SerpAPI is a valuable tool for anyone who needs to gather and analyze search engine results page (SERP) data. We use it to get answers to student queries if we don’t have them in our own knowledge base.

5. Text to Speech (TTS)

In our digital tutor, the answers are converted into speech for a better user experience. This technology is called text-to-speech and is being provided by SitePal.

6. Sitepal Digital Character

SitePal is designed to enhance website engagement and interaction and is ideal for businesses, e-learning platforms, and other organizations looking to add a human touch to their online presence.

7. Speech to Text (STT)

In our digital tutor, users can put forth queries using their voice, therefore we’re using state-of-the-art Google technology to achieve real-time speech-to-text.

8. Symbolic AI

Symbolic AI, also known as classical or rule-based AI, is particularly used in our recommendation systems where there is a small amount of data and domain-specific knowledge. In the future, symbolic AI can also be combined with other forms of AI, such as machine learning, to improve the accuracy of recommendations.
