Arabic Now Speaks Fluent SeaChat & SeaMeet Audio Uploads Graduates Beta – Seasalt.ai Updates (1/28/2025)

Hello Friends of Seasalt.ai,

This is your friendly neighborhood CEO, Xuchen Yao, popping into your inbox with some fresh updates. Yes, I’m the product builder, bug fixer, and weekend warrior who talks to customers every. single. day. (Yes, including weekends. Someone send coffee ?).

I decided to write this newsletter myself because, well, I realized it’s important to communicate what you wanted back to you. Plus, who better to tell you about our updates than the guy who’s probably a little too obsessed with making our products perfect? Let’s dive in!

SeaChat – Response AI Learns Arabic (For Real This Time)

>> Try SeaChat

Let’s talk about languages. In my very scientific (read: layman’s) opinion, I’ve categorized the world’s languages into two groups:

  1. Space-separated or not (or a chaotic mix of both).
  2. Written left-to-right or right-to-left (or, again, a chaotic mix of both).

I thought this was a pretty solid system… until we met Arabic. At first glance, I thought, “Oh, it’s just written right-to-left. Easy peasy!”

Spoiler alert: It was not easy peasy.

Here’s what SeaChat originally spat out when handling Arabic:

Arabic in the wrong direction

The phone number is doing a backflip, the email is outside-in, and the entire sentence looks like it’s been through a blender.

Turns out, Arabic is the ultimate rebel: it’s a mix of space-separated and non-space-separated words, and it flips directions mid-sentence like it’s playing a game of linguistic Twister.

After talking with native speakers (shoutout to Ibrahim and Tariq ??), and doing more debugging than I care to admit, we finally got it right:

Correct Arabic on SeaChat!

Behold, Arabic that actually makes sense!

To make this magic happen, we’ve added a special “Arabic” setting in SeaChat’s language options:

Add Arabic Support to SeaChat

Why do we care so much about Arabic?

Because tech inclusivity matters—and more importantly, our customers sell to the entire world. If your customers speak Arabic, you need an AI that doesn’t mess up their messages.

SeaMeet – Audio Uploads Are Now Bug-Free (Mostly)

>> Try SeaMeet

Remember when we released the audio uploads feature last Thanksgiving? Well, it’s been a wild ride since then. Think of it as a bug-fixing marathon, but with more coffee and fewer finish lines.

Thanks to your feedback, we’ve squashed a ton of corner cases, and now you can batch upload multiple audio files at once. SeaMeet will transcribe them all in one go, like a multitasking superhero:

Oh, and did we mention it’s now 3x faster? That’s right—we didn’t just fix the bugs; we turbocharged the whole thing. Now you can manage all your meetings—online Google Meet calls and offline recordings—in one place. Go wild.

?? Happy Chinese New Year (Or Should We Say... Python Year?)

To our users who celebrate Chinese New Year—Happy New Year this Wednesday! ???? It’s actually the Year of the Snake, but given our AI roots, let’s call it the Year of Python instead.

Wishing you all the best in the year ahead! ??

Until next time,

Xuchen Yao

P.S. If you’re reading this and thinking, “Wow, this newsletter is almost as good as the product itself,” well, that’s the goal. ??

P.P.S. If you’re not using Seasalt.ai yet, what are you waiting for? We’ve got Arabic support, audio uploads, and a CEO who writes newsletters. What more could you want?
