Aquarian Spotlight: Stuart Gomez

Meet Stuart Gomez OLY ! Stuart is a Regional Sales Manager based in Australia who joined Aqua almost a year ago. Stuart is not only a successful sales team member, he is also an Olympian!?

Stuart started playing badminton at the age of five becoming the captain of the Australian World Junior Badminton team in 2000 while completing his final two high school exams overseas during the competition. With the support of his parents, Stuart represented Australia at the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics where he was the first Australian men’s single badminton athlete to outright qualify for the Olympics. He also enjoys pushing his physical boundaries. He ran his first marathon with less than 2 days’ notice and completed the race in under 4.5 hours! ??

What in your career path led you to Aqua? ?

I started out in software sales by chance (or blessing!). A VP of AppSense interviewed me because I had some outbound call centre experience, but more so because he wanted to meet an Olympian. He hired me as employee no. 160 at AppSense as a sales development representative. Over my six years at AppSense, I progressed to an external account manager role before Flexera hired me as a Major Account Manager. I then had a successful seven-and-a-half-year tenure at Flexera. That time included the birth of our two boys and the Covid pandemic. With our kids growing up, and life getting more back to normal post-pandemic, I was after a new challenge. I wanted to work for a software vendor with a massive market opportunity, leading technology, and a great local team. That’s why I joined Aqua.??

What motivates you? ?

My faith and my family are at the foundation of everything I do, including work. I have been blessed that I enjoy what I do for work – to understand the challenges and opportunities my customers and prospects face as a company, but more so at an individual level. I love seeing the individuals I work with become wildly successful in their roles.?

Why do you like working with Aqua? ?

I like working for Aqua because of the unprecedented opportunity and because I truly make a difference! We have such a great team and leadership both at the APJ level as well as globally. We have the technology to provide value and secure cloud native in a way that is unique to the current market, providing unparalleled visibility and enforcement in a single unified platform.
