APSIZ in Asia
It’s just over a year since we set up Apsiz Services and we have just established our second company, Apsiz Services (Hong Kong) Ltd. We have spent a significant amount of time in Hong Kong and Singapore over the last 12 months building the business, meeting many interesting people, working with clients and there are clearly many exciting opportunities in developing procurement practices across Asia.
The region has seen significant economic growth, is very vibrant, with great infrastructure and will continue to see growth over the coming years. But alongside this we have seen real interest in developing procurement best practice, building collaborative relationships, driving continuous improvement and efficiency, using technology to underpin this.
Hong Kong itself is a fantastic hub for the whole region, very easy to set up a business, good support networks, and we have been able to build a great team here with expertise in category management, a very broad range of categories, leading procurement practices, optimisation of eProcurement technologies and delivering services such as spend recovery and spend analytics.
I recently attended the Best Student Awards at the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (Hong Kong Branch) and it was really uplifting to see how vibrant the procurement community are in Hong Kong. In the broader region there are 10,000’s of students studying procurement. This is great for the profession and critical for the region to build a high calibre group of procurement and supply chain professionals, who are fully qualified and using the most up to date techniques to deliver value for their respective organisations.
From discussions over the last year or so procurement is an area that many companies within the region could still improve and drive further competitive advantage when compared to other global businesses. Key to this is having access to sufficiently trained procurement professionals and optimising the tools and policies in place and look to invest in best of breed technology where there are gaps in existing systems.
We are working on some very interesting projects and we are always looking for highly capable people whether based in the UK or Hong Kong, please get in touch if the work we are doing is of interest at enquiries@apsiz.co.uk.
