April Staff Picks!
Crew Marketing Partners
Vancouver | Dallas | Toronto - We're a full-service marketing agency helping food and beverage brands grow.
This month, I messaged a large portion of our staff, asking if anyone could submit insights, stories, tips, websites, or anything else of interest to share with our readers.
Most replied with 'Let me think about that!' which in agency-speak is a courteous response that loosely translates to 'LOL, I'm way too busy for this.'
But a few special colleagues of mine sympathized with my heartfelt Microsoft Teams request, and we ended up collecting some great stuff.
If you have questions about anything you see below, or projects you're considering, please don't hesitate to reach out.

? - What's The Secret to Selling Out Every Home Game?
"I think this story is a great reminder to know, adjust, communicate & track what's important to consumers. The Savannah Banana's took what consumers wanted (to have fun at Baseball games) and amplified it. They adjusted their mission, adjusted their product, how they promote, and became a social magnet. Now all games for 2023 are sold out at home. Check out their transformation story."
?? - Ritz Crackers Acting Playful on Social
"ICYMI, Ritz Crackers has been getting some social attention recently. First, their 'reply with a ?? and i'll hand u a cracker' tweet racked up nearly 100,000 views after a bunch of brands jumped onboard. Then they seemed to delete everything on their Instagram feed in an effort to 'make space' for the announcement of a new flavor. Overall, I love the playful community management. It's a reminder social is a space to experiment?in."
?? - Marketing on a Tight Budget? It's All About Platform Thinking
"Platform thinking isn't just for big brands; it almost becomes even more important when you have limited marketing dollars. You have consistency across all channels and you can build on your platform year after year and use older assets for economies. For Quails Gate winery we have built on the 'Knowledge Grows Here'?platform over the last three years, SunRype's 'Shine On'?keeps building across their extensive beverage SKUs, and Rancho Vignola's 'Fresh Kept Secret'?keeps their seasonal customers engaged."

A Super (Mario Bros) Brand Licensing Deal

?? - This Writing App Can Instantly Improve Your Connection with Your Audience
"I found this tool the other day in a seminar on using AI. It's called Hemingway App. The premise is that any writing above a 6th grade level will not immediately connect with your audience. So it tells you what reading level your writing is, and helps you rewrite it to connect with your audience/consumer, and you don't have to sign up to use it!"
?? - Why Trying Cater to All People Can Hurt: Lessons from Canva Founder
"When launching (or repositioning) a brand, try not to be all things to all people. This articles talks about how Canva founder saw a need and filled the gap for her audience."
?? - The Importance of Emotional Storytelling in Marketing
"Human truth and storytelling is a great way to engage with consumers. People don't remember facts and figures, they remember emotional connections. Get to real human truths, and connect with them using great stories. Make it about what's in it for them, and how your brand is there to help."
