April round up

April round up

How is April over already? The month may have whizzed past, but we’ve crammed plenty into it, from welcoming a new face to gaining national newspaper coverage ??

April also saw some big changes on the social platforms that could be pretty exciting for STEM marketers ??

Struggling to keep up with the functionality updates that social platforms seem to roll out at an ever-increasing speed? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!

TikTok launches its STEM feed in Europe ???

April 2 saw TikTok rollout a dedicated STEM feed across Europe, which aims to inspire eleven to 18-year-olds into science and tech careers.

Since launching the US equivalent on March 14, 2023 — or Pi Day for you maths lovers — TikTok has seen a 24 per cent increase in STEM content within the country.

The new update presents a great opportunity for STEM businesses to connect with younger audiences through day-in-the-life and educational content.

As for a platform B2B marketers are more likely to be familiar with, LinkedIn has rolled out company page messaging to all accounts ??

Although the feature was originally launched last year, it was only available to selected accounts.

Now all businesses can display a ‘Message’ button on their page, which provides users with another method of getting in touch. Page admins will be able to see and respond to these messages. ?

It’s important to make sure you’ve got sufficient capacity to handle the messages, or it may be off-putting to potential customers.

LinkedIn has partnered with social management tools such as Hootsuite to facilitate the process, but if you’d prefer, you can turn the function off in your inbox settings.

The newest addition to the SJ team, Marco Giudici! ??

He joined us in April as an account director, bringing with him native Italian skills, experience as a journalist and ten years of technical PR expertise. ?

Marco’s arrival takes the company’s total languages spoken to ten, including Spanish, German and Swedish.

Give us a shout if you’re looking to get your name out abroad in 2024.

On the topic of global PR, the last month has seen us generate some fantastic international coverage for our clients ??

Leading motor and drive manufacturer WEG made it onto Envase y Embalaje, while metal cutting and manufacturing solutions expert Sandvik Coromant had a five-page print feature in Utensili e Attrezzature.

Back in the UK, mobile operator spusu saw its SIM-only deal featured on consumer tech site TechAdvisor, while scientific consulting and testing specialist Broughton saw coverage on the Daily Mail and Reuters sites!

Additionally, an interview with Roger Brereton, head of sales for steering components manufacturer Pailton Engineering, made it onto the website of national trade association Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

Aside from a wonderful month of clippings, we had plenty of other reasons to celebrate in April ??

Firstly, we want to say congrats to the five SJ team members who have been promoted recently!

-??????? Patrick Ball and Courtney Cowperthwaite take on account director roles.

-??????? Phil Taylor and Greg Coppack become senior account executives.

-??????? Stephanie Wood steps into the newly created head of digital role.

As head of digital, Stephie will oversee the agency’s digital marketing offer, including service delivery and reporting, as well as leading digital training sessions for the rest of our team.

In other good news…

We now have two newly CIPR Accredited practitioners in our midst! A big shout out to account managers Alison Gardner and Georgiana Marian, who have reached this milestone after completing two cycles of professional development. Their accreditation was achieved by their continued commitment to learning and coaching opportunities that strengthened their PR knowledge and skills.

Well done! ??
