April is our Birthday month

Annique is celebrating 49 years of existence! It has always been important to us to remember our roots and the incredible joy of becoming Rooibos Health and Beauty experts. Just like we are rooted in our history, perfect soil is required to produce excellent Rooibos.

The key to Rooibos farming is a sustainable production system in which planting and harvesting are well-planned to produce a consistent yield every year. To achieve this, it must be established how much Rooibos can ultimately be produced in a rotation system of seven years. Rooibos is planted in the first year and remains on the land for the next five years and is harvested annually. After the firth year, the Rooibos is removed and cover crop is planted for two years in order to put nutrients back into the soil for the next cycle. While crop rotation improves soil and is good for conservation purposes, its greatest benefit is to reduce the level of disease in the soil.
