April – From the Field

Championing meaningful creativity has always been central to our ethos as an agency, so we're thrilled this month to share the result of a collective exhibition using the art of collaborative storytelling. And we have a glimpse at Alice Bowsher's joyous greetings cards for WRAP, an invitation from Owen Gildersleeve into his Brighton studio (plus check out his latest project with Northstar !), Kris Andrew Small 's bold cover design for Little, Brown Book Group as well as new editorial work from Bryce Wymer and Rosie Barker . We also hear from the wonderful Toby Triumph about what he's been watching and listening to in this month's Artist Picks ??

First up, we were thrilled to be approached by Istanbul-based artist agency fam° to partner on a collective project and exhibition seeking to foster cross-cultural understanding and empathy through the art of collaborative storytelling.

Four artists from across the fam° and Grand Matter rosters were commissioned to create new artworks visualising real-life stories gathered by two partner NGOs –?Choose Love?and?Support to Life?– relating to the amazing humanitarian work they do. Illustrators?Lena Yokoyama?and?Vicki Turner?from Grand Matter both created beautiful new works inspired by stories shared with us by the partner NGOs, which are now on display in?fam°'s new physical space in Istanbul's Design Museum as part of the exhibition titled?'From the Field'.

Owen Gildersleeve X Watches of Switzerland

To celebrate Watches of Switzerland turning 100 years old, paper artist Owen Gildersleeve was asked to create ten paper-cut sets for ten of their exclusive watches. Each set design is inspired by the decade that the watch was originally launched and Owen’s geometric designs create a stunning backdrop for WOS best-selling watches.

Artist Picks

This month we hear from Brooklyn-based British illustrator Toby Triumph on some of the things he's been enjoying lately.?

(RE)WATCHED:?Moonage Daydream"I recently rewatched the Brett Morgan David Bowie documentary that came out a coupleof years ago. It uses archive footage and a voiceover from Bowie using old interviews. The whole film from start to finish is like a mad, pyschedelic dream, that scoops you up and doesn’t let go. It really speaks to me about what it means to be an artist, and how fulfilling and extraordinary it can be to pursue an artistic vision for a lifetime."?

VISITED:?DIA Beacon"About 2 hours North of New York right up the Hudson River is an amazing town called Beacon, that has the coolest art gallery called DIA Beacon in it. It’s an old box printing factory that has been converted into a contemporary art gallery. Every time I head in that direction I try to make a visit. The Richard Serra and Louise Bourgeois sculptures are a must see, and I saw a Joan Jonas exhibition there a while ago that was fantastic!"

LISTENED TO:?Willie J Healey ‘Bunny’"This album is on every day while I work at the moment. He just makes the most beautiful soulful, sun drenched music. It’s like if George Harrison was in a soul funk band! This album is perfect for a beautiful Spring or Summer morning with the sun shining in through the windows. Today I put the last song ‘Bluebird’ on my headphones, and walked to the supermarket, I had a real emotional moment in the milk aisle!"
