April Content Epiphanies
While I am putting in tons of hours of training I get to see or listen to a lot of content. Here are the ones from April that have stuck in my brain.
What I watched:
HBO the Synannon Fix – an incredible story of what starts out with great intention and actual real positive impact and then turns into a study of ego, narcissism, and group think.? An incredible journey of the human psyche.
What I read
A Culture of Introspective Captivity
“A Culture of Introspective Captivity," discusses how modern society promotes excessive introspection, often at the expense of external engagement and real-world experiences. Our focus on using therapy to drive us towards a healthy mental place may be coming over indulgent. While introspection can be valuable, it has become a sort of captivity that limits our interactions with the world, often amplified by therapy culture on social media.
Rich Roll – how to live a life of value
This one has really stuck in my brain.? Some of the wisest truth I have heard. Life has 3 truths, pain, uncertainty, and constant work.? Power, money, status will not dissolve these, you must chase purpose and meaning.?
The Quote that has stuck with me:
“The paradox seems to be, as Socrates demonstrated long ago, that the truly free individual is free only to the extent of his own self-mastery. While those who will not govern themselves are condemned to find master’s to govern over them.”
― Steven Pressfield, The War of Art

6 个月Some great thoughts and quotes there, Kev. I love the War of Art. Rich Roll's thoughts reminded me of Ikagai (japanese term that I would not be surprised if you were familiar with - essentially to live and work with purpose). ??
