The ability to shepherd an idea from ideation to development to implementation is an essential skill in today’s business environment for entrepreneurs, innovators, and organizational change agents. This course aims to develop students’ abilities to identify problems and generate solutions to real world business and societal challenges. The course focuses on problem identification (understanding the core elements of a presenting problem), idea generation (developing solutions to those problems), and implementation (putting those solutions into practice). Combining lecture-based content & participation in a weekend-long hackathon, students will generate, develop, and pitch an idea related to a societal or business challenge. 1.5 Credits, fulfills credit towards Entrepreneurship minor, and Dyson Entrepreneurship concentration.??

You’ll find out how they got off the ground and worked together within their sociotechnical ecosystems to make it happen.
Andrea Ippolito , founder of the baby-feeding support startup Simplifed and director of W.E. Cornell , will lead the session. She’ll be joined by panelists Dr. Katherine Saunders , co-founder of Intellihealth, and Brad Hartwig , CEO of Arbor .

Hosted by the Interior Northeast I-Corp s Hub (IN I-Corp s) , the virtual NSF I-Corps Information Session on Tuesday, May 14 (12:00 – 12:45 p.m. ET) is designed for busy graduate students, postdocs, and faculty interested in learning more about I-Corps regional and national programming. I-Corps instructors and alumni will be in attendance to share their experiences and answer questions.
The National Science Foundation created I-Corps (Innovation Corps) to bridge the gap between fundamental research discoveries in science and engineering and the commercialization of technologies, products, and processes with the potential to benefit society.

The following virtual courses are open to tech researchers in all STEM fields:

Applications are open for undergraduates, graduates, or recent alumni (within 3 years of graduation)?who are launching or operating early-stage ventures in emerging economies. Finalists will have networking opportunities, mentorship by fellows and global investors, and the opportunity to compete for a prize of $10,000.
This year's competition topic is “Financial Access and Inclusion in Emerging Economies”. Five finalists chosen by mid-May will compete for a prize of $10,000 at the Cornell Emerging Markets Institute on October 31st, 2024, at the Cornell Tech Campus in New York City.
??Regeneron Health Tech Innovators (Hackathon/Competition)

Unleash your creativity and expertise to develop digital, scalable solutions that enhance patient care and work to propel clinical research forward.
Entrants should aim to create digital, scalable solutions that improve patient care while also potentially accelerating clinical research, examples include but are not limited to consented data for observational research, or a warm base of patients for clinical trial recruitment. Entrants can either submit a project to Track 1 or Track 2 .?$20,000 in prizes.
??Grow-NY Food and Ag Business Competition

The Grow-NY business competition provides funding, mentorship, business development support, and other key resources to leading food and ag startups from across the globe. Innovative startups are encouraged to apply for their chance to win up to $1 million. A total of $3 million in prizes will be awarded to seven startups.

Free entrepreneurship training for early-stage dairy innovators?
The Dairy Runway Program welcomes food entrepreneurs and dairy innovators with early-stage ideas for value-added dairy products to participate in a free Cornell University-hosted entrepreneurship course focused on initial product concept and customer discovery. In addition to virtual classes, the program includes prototype training and business coaching.??
Up to 10 teams will be selected for the cohort and participate in a multi-week virtual course that combines synchronous classes, self-directed online learning, and one-on-one instructor check-ins. Throughout the course, industry experts and food entrepreneurs will discuss product branding, consumer trends, and the challenges of bringing novel products to market.??
Participants who successfully complete the course will advance to the program’s kitchen incubator stage to work one-on-one with a Cornell Entrepreneurs-in-Residence and to test their product’s formulation with food technicians and dairy specialists.??
