Earth day, every day: the impact of ratings on our planet?

April’s Earth Day serves as a reminder of the urgent need to preserve our planet and secure a brighter future. Avoiding the 1.5°C climate threshold requires an unwavering commitment to preserving and restoring our natural ecosystems. Effective carbon projects that store and remove carbon across the planet need large-scale investment to do the vital work of combatting climate change.?

At BeZero, we believe carbon ratings are essential to that investment, both in climate projects and for developing effective markets in environmental assets such as biodiversity. Whether using satellite imagery and in-field partnerships to map carbon stocks of the Amazon basin, or exploring the use of environmental DNA in Uganda to assess and protect biodiversity, our scientists and partners are working across the globe to find new ways to understand and monitor risks to climate projects around the world. From guarding against the threat of deforestation to unlocking the potential of blue carbon through mangrove restoration, carbon markets are channeling resources into projects that work and communities across the globe. Carbon projects are helping us invest in Earth.

How ratings are setting an accurate price on nature

Nature-based projects assigned higher ratings have seen demand rise considerably in recent months. Furthermore, those assigned lower ratings have seen prices fall while prices have held up for those assigned higher ratings. Have a look at our latest research, using pricing data from Viridios Climate , on the growing relationship between our ratings and price of nature based credits.

Observing from above: using satellite imagery to monitor Earth's changes

To ensure our ratings have the most complete view of project activity across the globe, our team works with a range of partners in space and on the ground. Recently we leveraged our partnership with Planet to provide our platform customers with interactive views from space of project activity and changes, quarter by quarter.
