March 2024 webinar - An aviation special
This aviation special?was broadcast?on Thursday 28th March 2024. Ken Munro of Pen Test Partners and Lee Speakman of the University of Salford were our guests. Ken has been working in IT security for over 15 years. He writes for various newspapers and industry magazines and is a regular source of comment and sanity on IoT issues to various news agencies and the BBC.

Ian Pearson is a Principle Embedded Solutions Engineer with Microchip Technology Inc. with over 25 years of experience in Embedded Microcontrollers, Networking, Wireless and Systems Design. Our heartfelt thanks to Ian's?predecessor,?Trevor Hall (Synaptics) who will continue to be involved in the group as Vice-chair alongside fellow Vice-Chair?Richard Marshall (Xitex). DSbD All-Hands event
The Digital Security by Design (DSbD) All-Hands event took place last month at London's iconic Oval Cricket Ground. New IoTSF board member, Peter Davies (Thales), led an insightful and interactive workshop discussion on the benefits and disbenefits of CHERI adoption. He was joined by fellow IoTSF board members Carsten Maple (Warwick University) and Haydn Povey (SCI) who described the global challenges and costs of CHERI including safety, the supply chain, and AI.? One key way for IoTSF members to be part of CHERI’s success is to be a part of the IoTSF ManySecured working group. Several IoTSF members are playing a significant role in new NIST Guidance on Trusted IoT Onboarding and Lifecycle Management which is due out in early May.
ASIS Europe
The IoTSF was represented at ASIS Europe in Vienna last month by James Willison. The sold out event focused on the role security plays in supporting business objectives, examining both physical and cybersecurity risks, and the vital management roles security leaders play in large multinational organisations. New document: 'SBOM Sharing Roles and Considerations'
Building on the SBOM Sharing Lifecycle Report, this document defines the three roles (SBOM Author, SBOM Consumer, and SBOM Distributor) of the SBOM sharing lifecycle and the factors they should keep in mind or be aware of when engaging in the three phases of the sharing lifecycle (discovery, access, and transport).
