Although April may have started with the Easter Bank Holiday it also marked the end of the 2023/2024 tax year, a stressful time for many accountants and bookkeepers.

If you did find April particularly stressful, feeling stressed about life in general or feel that you could have tackled the tax year end more efficiently then look up Kim Searle. Many of you may have bumped into Kim at IAB events or remember her from coffee mornings. Kim specialises in helping professionals, specifically those in the finance sector to become more confident, increase their sense of well-being, and be more emotionally stable. IAB Awards 2024

April also saw the closing deadline for the IAB 2024 Awards, and we are thrilled with all the fantastic entries we received. Over the last few weeks, our judging panel had the tough task of selecting finalists, and we will soon be reaching out to those who made it. The entries were filled with heartwarming testimonials showcasing the commitment and care given to clients, alongside the pride in the services provided. We commend all who participated; your hard work deserves recognition, and we hope the experience was rewarding for everyone involved. Keep up the amazing job!?

Companies House Reforms Under ECCTA?- Monday, 13th?May @ 2pm.?This webinar will help corporates and firms understand why The Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 has been introduced. We will explore Companies House changes coming into force during 2024, their implications, the upcoming filing requirements for small and micro companies, and the proposed new thresholds of the company size classification limits.?

National Minimum Wage Increase?

On 1st April 2024, the UK's National Minimum Wage (NMW) rates, including the National Living Wage (NLW), increased in accordance with recommendations by the Low Pay Commission from autumn 2023. The new rates, effective from April 1, 2024, are as follows:?

Additionally, a report assessing the potential impacts of these new rates and projecting the NLW rate for April 2025 has been published by the LPC. The NLW projection for April 2025, based on the government's directive to maintain the NLW at two-thirds of median pay, is estimated to range between £11.61 and £12.18 (£11.89 central estimate).?

The LPC is conducting regional visits across the UK and will soon initiate a call for written evidence to inform its future recommendations.??
