Welcome to our April newsletter – a busy month for AHDC. We are looking forward to our highly anticipated virtual Round Table on the Australasian Health Facility Guidelines – From Development to Implementation.?
This event has grown over recent years, reflecting the importance for industry and Government to work together for the best outcomes. Therefore we encourage all of our members to attend this session, which will feature a truly national panel discussion. To accommodate this expanded program, please note that the start time is earlier than usual – 5.30pm to 7.00pm AEST on Thursday April 18th.
Design for Health Research Scholarship
The AHDC Design for Health Research Scholarship is now open for 2024 Applications!
Now in its third year, this scholarship can support you to undertake specialist health design research. This initiative is intended for architect-researchers, health facility planners, and other design professionals with an interest in health facility design. This will provide career opportunities, advance the design evidence base within the field, and be a catalyst for knowledge sharing within the health facility design community.

Ahead of the Curve – Conference Submissions due soon
If you have an interesting project, paper or proposal for the conference, we encourage you to get your submission in by April 30th. We welcome diverse submissions and formats, and are also looking for interesting projects to visit in Sydney.?

Sydney Build Expo – Partner Event
The Australian Health Design Council is partnering with Sydney Build Expo to present a case study on “Designing for Health and Wellbeing” on the “Architecture and Design Workshops Stage” at the ICC in Darling Harbour.?
We are delighted to host Kaunitz Yeung Architecture to present a recently completed Yutjuwala Djiwarr Aged Care project, and other relevant works. This session will explore designing for the health and wellbeing of communities. Effective design for healthcare, aged care, and community support services requires a foundation of trust earned through consultation and collaboration. The presentation and Q&A panel will focus on:
Sydney Build Expo is a free-to-attend two-day event featuring a wide program of presentations, exhibitors and networking opportunities for the architecture, design and construction industry. We welcome members and non-members to come along to this event, which will be hosted on the ‘Architecture and Design Workshops’ Stage. As this is a partner event, it will not be available online.?

European Healthcare Design Congress, Awards and Exhibition
Organised by SALUS Global Knowledge Exchange and Architects for Health, the European Healthcare Design 2024 Congress, Awards & Exhibition will be held at the Royal College of Physicians, London, on 10-12 June, 2024. The theme is “Natural Intelligence: Creating self-learning health systems”.
While some of us will head over there in person to attend and present, you can also attend online, accessing all the talks from the comfort of your own home or office.?
AHDC members can access the “Event Partner” discount when registering. No special offer code is required, as your membership is verified by EHDC. Early bird ticket prices end on 25 April.?
