April 22 was National Women's Health Day: much of our work focuses on women: in their dreams of motherhood, in their role as daughters, or simply as women in the preservation of their health.

We embraced this cause years ago and will always do everything in our power to do our part in enabling more women to have the appropriate tools to take care of themselves.

We celebrated our 10 years of NIPT experience!

Prenatalsafe? is Eurofins Genoma's NIPT analysis with 40,000 tests performed annually and validated data in over 70,000 women.

NIPT stands for Non-Invasive Prenatal Test: thanks to a simple collection of maternal blood, from which foetal DNA is isolated, the analysis allows the genetic make-up of the foetus to be studied to identify the presence of chromosomal abnormalities and genetic diseases.

The Mutagens Foundation and President Salvo Testa shed light on the ASCO proposal to extend genetic screening for BRCA1 and BRCA2 (and in some cases also other genes) to all newly diagnosed breast cancer patients, particularly women up to the age of 65 (and not up to 40 as is the case in Italy today).

This determines the need for each individual country to verify the possibility of carrying out this large number of tests and the related genetic counselling to be provided before and after the examination.

After working hard to ensure that laboratories and geneticists were able to sustain large volumes of analysis while maintaining the scrupulous attention to each individual person, Eurofins Genoma proudly achieved this milestone.
