April 2023 Round-up
We had a sold-out Insight Conference on 24 April, with lots of fundraisers sharing expertise, information and skills around insight, supporter journey data and creating future resilient portfolios in fundraising. It is so important that conversations are had around this and how data can be used to make informed decisions. Thank you to all our speakers and volunteers that helped with this event. We hope that all who attended took away vital knowledge that they can share with their charities, organisations, and teams. Learning is also about putting knowledge into practice, and we’re always excited to hear about how our members use the knowledge gained from these events, qualifications, and the training we offer.?
This month saw the?final episode in our latest Podcast series 'A Lifetime of Impact, a Career in Fundraising'. Again, a big thank you to our host Anne Hughes and to all?our fantastic guests who featured over the course of the series. There have been some really interesting and thought-provoking conversations with experts in the fundraising sector. If you have not yet listened to the series, I would strongly recommend doing so. You can hear them all here through our website.?
We have some free online Zoom sessions coming up in May as part of the RAISE: Arts, Culture and Heritage programme. These events will be delivered by fundraisers Marina Jones, Deputy Development Director at the English National Opera, and Dominic Haddock, Head of Philanthropy at the English National Opera. Visit the RAISE Eventbrite page for more details and to book on to these sessions.?
Since the pandemic, working patterns have seen a significant change. CharityJob has analysed data for the Chartered Institute to highlight new levels of flexibility and freedom offered within fundraising in recent years. These results show that hybrid roles advertised in the fundraising sector grew by over 900% last year, while onsite roles for the fundraising sector decreased by 64%. Findings like this help shape our sector and future career roles within fundraising. Read the data analysis highlights here.?
We had some great news about how much GivingTuesday 2022 raised. Taking place on 29 November 2022, it is estimated that over £20 million was raised in the UK. We believe that fundraising is not merely a necessity but is fundamentally good for everybody and that much more money raised will mean a better world. That's why I am really proud that the Chartered Institute of Fundraising has been part of GivingTuesday in supporting the campaign. It's been an absolute privilege to be involved in something that charities across the UK use to raise money in this global movement to inspire generosity.?
Over the last few months, we have been asking for your help and your feedback through different surveys about how best we can tackle issues fundraisers are facing and how best we can serve our members. We would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to complete these. We have just launched an inaugural survey with Fundraising Magazine and are asking questions such as how you are coping professionally and feeling personally. If you were able to spare some time to fill this in and make sure your voice is heard, we would be very grateful. Take the survey here.?
Finally, I’d like to say a massive congratulation to everyone who took part in the London Marathon this month and the thousands of fundraisers who helped raise incredible amounts for their charities. Plus, one big congratulations in particular to the Chartered Institute’s very own Head of Digital and Marketing Paula O’Neill who took part. All the team are so proud of what you have achieved!

1 年Hi , has anyone got a definitive rules / regs / information on ‘Zero rated’ Direct Mail fundraising packs please. We are often asked to Zero rate Mailing campaigns for charities that can’t claim VAT back, but reluctant in view of HMRC red tape! Much appreciated [email protected] ??
