APRF Supports Emerging Park Leaders

American Parks & Recreation Foundation (APRF), the philanthropic partner of the American Academy for Park & Recreation Administration, raises funds to support projects, programs and initiatives that positively impact and elevate the parks and recreation profession - academic research, industry best practices - and providing professional development opportunities to young professionals and emerging leaders in the parks and recreation profession, including the John C. Potts Leadership Development Scholarship ("Pottsie" Scholarship) to the National Recreation & Park Association's Directors School. The Directors School, held in Oak Brook, IL August 14-18, 2022, has helped develop parks and recreation leaders in parks and recreation agencies and park districts.

This year's "Pottsie" Scholarship recipients:

Tede Price, Superintendent of Recreation at Lee's Summit Parks & Recreation (MO)

Both Tede and Cortney expressed their appreciation to the APRF for the scholarship and the rich professional development experience at the Directors School.

Providing professional development opportunities to young and emerging leaders is an important part of APRF's mission. It is also critical to ensuring that the parks and recreation profession remains an essential service for local governments and as an essential, stand-alone program in colleges and universities across the nation.

The American Parks & Recreation Foundation is also offering scholarships to attend NRPA's Supervisors 2022 Supervisors Management School November 6-10 and the 2023 NRPA Revenue Development & Management School, both held at the premiere Oglebay National Training Center in Wheeling, WV.
