APRENDE COMO UN BEBé

APRENDE COMO UN BEBé

Have you ever noticed how well babies and young children learn? They seem to have an innate (natural) ability to take things in at an accelerated rate. ?Su aprendizaje parece casi mágico!

?Por qué pasa ésto?

Why are children able to learn so much more quickly than the rest of us?

Well, one reason is, very simply, that their brains are in a stage of early growth and are very well prepared for accelerated learning but their success in this area is not only because of their age. It is also because of their approach and methodology!

When you think about it carefully, babies only start speaking after they have done a lot of listening. When I say a lot, I mean MUCHO! They only start to say a few words when they are about 18 months old. So, as you can see they are avid listeners. They love to copy their parents!

So, the general way that a baby will learn a language is in this process:

1. Listening

2. Speaking

3. Reading

4. Writing

The interesting thing here is when we compare this approach to how we learn our second foreign language at school. It is mostly like this:

1. Reading

2. Writing

3. Speaking

Traditionally, listening has been completely eliminated from the equation! Quite incredible. This is starting to improve now in some schools but there is still a lot of progress to be made.

So, if you want to learn like a baby then just start LISTENING more. You will notice just how powerful it is. As a language learner, I have always loved listening. It is my favourite part about learning a language!

I hope that helps.

Interesting post....the problem for most of people is the listening time; all of us want to learn English just in one year investing less than one hour by day to listening.
