?? Employees who regularly use GenAI tools are more likely than others to worry about job loss.
?? Approximately 64% of leaders have reported that they are beginning to employ Generative AI to transform their organizations.
?? GenAI is enhancing employee efficiency, not just by eliminating monotonous tasks.
?? GenAI is delivering tangible benefits, especially in enhancing productivity but regular usage of Generative AI is more prevalent in the Global South (includes Brazil, India, Nigeria, South Africa, and the Middle East) compared to the Global North (Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Spain, the UK, and the US), according to a new interesting research published by 波士顿谘询公司 using data ?? from 13,102 employees from executive suite leaders to frontline employees in 15 countries and regions.
?Generative AI can save five work hours per week.
Researchers found that GenAI enables individuals to perform more tasks and to work more intelligently.
Workers report devoting the additional time to such useful activities as :
1?? Performing more tasks (41%)
2?? Performing New tasks (39%),
3?? Experimenting with GenAI (38%)
4?? Working on strategic tasks (38%).
5??Finishing work earlier (35%)
?GenAI may save time, but it may also eliminate jobs
Researchers have observed that employees who frequently utilize Generative AI tend to fear job loss more than their counterparts.
In general, 49% of frequent users believe that their jobs might vanish within the next decade, in contrast to just 24% of employees who do not utilize GenAI.
?Top challenges with GenAI
Researchers discovered that a majority of leaders are concerned about their workers' current level of AI literacy and the future costs of implementation.
They listed the top 5 challenges in the next five years:
领英推荐
? Cost of implementing and running GenAI
? Difficulty redeploying workers effectively
? Difficulty changing workflows
? Lack of funds/budget for any innovation investment
? Lack of AI and GenAI literacy in nontech roles
?? Finally researchers provided five recommendations for leaders to harness the transformative power of Generative AI (GenAI) in their organizations:
?? Establish a transformation-first mindset.
?? Manage all your transformations.
?? Build training muscle at scale.
??Emphasize how GenAI can increase value creation and employee joy.
?? Anticipate the evolution of roles, skills, operating model, data, and governance.
?? ???? ???????????????? ????????:
This interesting research done by BCG with a global data sample, shows that the implementation of GenAI has progressed from a pilot phase to a primary stage within adopting organizations.
Leaders are witnessing productivity benefits, notably the five hours gained per week per employee. While this may appear modest, when aggregated across an organization, the cumulative productivity gains are substantial. Consequently, managers must strategize effectively to utilize these gained hours to enhance efficiency rather than allowing them to become idle.
At this stage, we can conclude that the advantages of using AI in the workplace include increased efficiency and productivity, enhanced decision-making, cost savings, and the ability to provide personalized customer experiences.

4 个月Thank you for sharing Nicolas! BCG shows us (again) with data that the use of generative artificial intelligence is amplifying us when we use these new tools with curiosity and critical thinking. I think the 5 hours saved should be used to create more well-being for people instead of focusing on productivity. In the end the value will come, because wellness and leisure time foster creativity, which then becomes value for companies.

5 个月Honestly I think this is more reflective of the structure of work more so than anything else - a close follow percentage wise is people who finish work earlier, presumably meaning they go home. Which I imagine is what basically everyone would do if they were allowed to. Those who work on more tasks probably don’t have a choice - they’re stuck at work for set hours and so have to do something in that saved time. The real transformation would be allowing all employees to shorten their workweek as long as a certain amount of work was done at a certain level of quality. If AI tools help improve efficiency and usage of time, then workweek durations would decline accordingly. But I guarantee you that will never happen. Instead AI tools will be a way to get more work out of an employee in the same amount of time for the same salary. Employee loses, company makes more money.

5 个月I really love this research. If companies look at this through the lens of innovation and engagement, in addition to productivity, they could see that unleashing employees to focus on more valuable tasks will create shareholder value in the long-run. Alternatively, companies who use this tech only to streamline the operation and lay-off scores of employees could suffer in the long-run. Thanks for sharing!

5 个月This is fascinating. I’d love to see a ‘quality’ dynamic. Speed & efficiency is one thing, but what about the quality of outputs? Nicolas BEHBAHANI

5 个月Thank you for sharing this valuable research! While the efficiency boost is significant, it is only the tip of the iceberg. Imagine the potential for innovation and strategic thinking when employees can focus more on high-value tasks. Although concerns about job loss are valid, it could be mitigated through proactive upskilling and role transformation strategies, ensuring that employees evolve alongside the technology rather than being displaced by it. The success of GenAI depends on overcoming significant hurdles such as cost, workflow changes, and upskilling. It’s not just about implementing technology but also about creating an environment where GenAI enhances, rather than replaces, human potential. Thank you again for sharing these valuable insights.
