Approaching AI
It's been nearly 3 weeks since I joined? David Lonergan ?on his journey to modernise and evolve the tired recruitment practices of yore for the benefit of the architectural glazing industry. The vessel to do this?? Framework Recruitment .?
Passion is something we both share. Passion for the industry; passion for innovation; passion for growth and evolution. Conversations and ideas have been flowing.
Technology has been a topic of pique interest. In particular, AI.?
As we assess the current landscape and where it is headed, one thing is for sure:?the technology of the future is already here, most companies, institutions and people simply are not using it yet, and may not even understand the potential.
The technology of the future is... of course, AI.
The capabilities of AI, as so aptly realised for the general populace by ChatGPT, are already being utilised in various ways by many companies in the tech space. Developers are working on ChatGPT plugins as we speak and people are testing them with real world application and understanding their potential to transform productivity, businesses and the devices and apps we use. The early stages of a technology that underpins what to expect of the future.
The tech industry is naturally where these innovations get play-tested. Technology companies forge new paths through new types of technology; the broader tech industry tests, adapts and adopts these innovations; other industries play catch up, and so the cycle gos...?
Juxtaposed to this, many companies in other industries, and public institutions, either scramble to understand the potential of AI and how to use it or are not yet devoting many, if any, resources to it. Many people are no doubt still waiting for the so-called 'AI revolution' to even occur. The reality is that it is already upon us and adoption is currently concentrated to the few who understand it.
'What does AI mean for universities? Or workplaces?' Questions once hypothetical, now a reality of discourse. A dawning realisation. Perhaps one of the important things to reflect on in the present day, is that we can already ascertain what AI will look like in the future by looking at what it can do now.?
With certainty AI will evolve search engines (as we already see with Microsoft's stake in OpenAI and ChatGPT integration with Bing); AI will be integrated with the devices we use so that a highly intelligent virtual assistant is available on-call, anytime we like (OpenAI's ChatGPT mobile app is already available in the US); AI will be able to automate time-wasting administrative processes to a point where businesses can focus even more resources on delivering the end product or service; and got a question about anything imaginable? Ask AI. Need technical insight, analysis, code or anything else? AI has it covered. Need an intelligent mind to bounce ideas off of? AI, why not.?

In many ways, AI can already do all the things listed above. The capability is there and will get more intelligent year-on-year; the implementation and adoption is catching up.
Once adoption catches up across industries, and AI solutions are so widely available and sought after that the fad turns into a craze and the craze turns into a norm, hyper-intelligent AI will surely become as ubiquitous as the smartphone.
So, what does this mean for?now??
The benefits of AI are already here for the taking. As we move into the fully fledged AI age, perhaps it benefits in some way to?think?like a tech company. Technology companies are already finding ways to use AI because they are part of the connective tissue that is the technology industry.
Engaging with tech companies and the industry seems like a natural forward step. There are brilliant minds at work on AI; for those of us less knowledgeable of it, it seems pertinent to initiate dialogue. Similarly, those in technology may benefit from understanding how their products and developments can be adapted for other industries.
When an innovative technology is developed, programmers and engineers will find it and evolve it, whether it be video games, cryptocurrencies or AI.
So, new technology ventures are emerging. Start-ups, kickstarters and venture capital looking to invest in AI. There will be no shortage of whale money looking to make movements in this space. Cue tentative anticipation of the AI bull market.
Given AI is still in its formative stage and not yet oversaturated, there is no time like the present when it comes to influencing and inspiring AI innovations that benefit one's own industry.?
For us at? Framework Recruitment , we're keeping our eyes peeled and our minds open.
