Article by JDV Projects Managing Director & Owner Jason De Vos
Back in 1997, at the age of 27, I faced a pivotal moment when my first business partnership ended. It was a tough lesson in trust, one that left me with an unyielding determination to keep moving forward. I knew then that I had to maintain my humility and stay true to my core values, especially when times became tough.
In those early days, long before the internet era, building relationships meant meeting people face to face. It was a skill I honed, little realising that it was shaping our future. I strived to communicate and develop relationships based on empathy and understanding, even though I couldn't quite articulate that at the time. Those early days helped me appreciate the effort and grit required to create business momentum with my days busy building and managing projects and evenings meeting with new clients followed by even later nights completing quotes and administration.
So armed with just one tradesman and a Toyota Starlet for transportation, I embarked on the journey that would become JDV Projects. To my amazement, that small car could carry a full-size builder's wheelbarrow and enough tools to start a new chapter. Since that time, our business has evolved with many new chapters to add to our story, each offering new insights and discoveries and opportunities to grow and innovate.
They say that adversity breeds resilience, and I wholeheartedly believe in maintaining a perpetually inquisitive mindset. I am also firm in the belief that high-quality outcomes cannot be achieved without insisting on the highest of expectations.
This ethos is at the heart of everything we do at JDV Projects .

I'm proud to say that our clients are cared for by a team of construction professionals who share this commitment. Our extensive portfolio of exceptional projects and the countless referrals we have received stand as resounding proof of our dedication and the trust we’ve cultivated through enduring relationships.
But what matters most to me is that we all find joy in our work and remain vigilant about the company we keep. Reputation and integrity are the cornerstones of JDV's culture, defining our interactions with each other, our clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and project partners. In simple terms, we genuinely care.
Here’s to continuing to create memorable experiences with incredible people and build projects that we’re proud to say are built by JDV.
