Approach God with a Reverent Heart

Approach God with a Reverent Heart

“The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” - 1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV)

A "quiet time" is an important moment set aside each day to connect with God, involving reading Scripture, praying, and reflecting on His word. It is a dedicated time to deepen our relationship with Him and grow spiritually. A daily quiet time is essential for us to grow as Christians, and how we approach this time matters just as much as the act itself. We invite you to make a quiet time a regular part of your daily routine, ensuring it becomes a meaningful and transformative experience.

God looks beyond our actions; He focuses on our hearts. To have a truly enriching quiet time, our approach must have an attitude that align our hearts with His will.

Approach God with eager anticipation, just as you would when meeting a dear friend. Expect good fellowship and to receive blessings from this time together. In the words of King David, "O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you" (Psalm 63:1 ESV).

Take a moment to be still before God as you begin your quiet time. Let your heart prepare for His presence, creating an moment of quiet reverence.

Approach your quiet time with a heart ready to receive God's guidance. Decide beforehand that you will obey what He reveals to you. As Jesus said, "Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own" (John 7:17). Commit to following His will, no matter what.

Approach your quiet time with sincerity and reverence, and get ready to witness God's work in your life.

P4 Discussion Question:

What type of attitude brings you to the place where you are ready to sit and really talk with Jesus?
