ApprenticeshipNC Hires Apprenticeship Randolph Chairperson as Agency Director
Raleigh— January 12, 2024 — ApprenticeshipNC (ANC) is excited to announce Chris Harrington, Ph.D.,MBA joined its team as agency director January 8, 2024. Dr. Harrington comes to ApprenticeshipNC (ANC) with more than 40 years of experience leading organizations through hypergrowth and aiding them through challenges.? He has worked in consumer-packaged goods, safety devices, textile, and medical devices industries throughout the U.S. and internationally. His roles have included Chief Operating Officer and General Manager, Elastic Therapy LLC; Head of North American Operations, Draeger Safety; Vice President of Operations, Sony DADC; Director of Operations and General Manager, Technicolor; and various logistics roles in the U.S. Army. Most recently, Harrington taught organizational behavior and leadership as Professor of the Practice at High Point University.
In addition to facilitating Elastic Therapy’s apprenticeship programs while at the company, Dr. Harrington was one of the founding leaders of Apprenticeship Randolph , Randolph County’s premier opportunity for current high school juniors and seniors living and/or learning in Randolph County to jump start their careers. He has also served on various economic, workforce development, and community boards.
Dr. Harrington’s PhD is from North Carolina A&T State University where he studied leadership and completed his research on factors influencing whether a firm would engage with apprenticeship.? He also holds an MBA from the University of Tennessee.

ApprenticeshipNC is the State Apprenticeship Registration Agency operating under the NC Community College System. ANC’s mission is to help North Carolina employers build and retain an adaptable, skilled, and efficient workforce through the registration of apprenticeship programs across North Carolina. ApprenticeshipNC creates apprenticeship programs tailored to meet employers' needs — providing structured on-the-job learning, related instruction, and a progressive wage scale. ANC also connects employers and apprentices to DOL registered apprenticeship occupations and federal and state funding.
Apprentices, who are paid during their apprenticeship, receive on-the-job training and formalized classroom instruction. They also earn certifications, industry specific credentials, and, depending on their programs, college degrees.?
