Apprentices

Sage are holding an open day at our offices at Great North Park, Newcastle on the 1 March from 16:00 – 19:30. We are looking to recruit up to 100 Apprentices in various business areas starting from September. Through our Apprenticeship Programme, we are looking for the next generation of business builders, passionate about delivering outstanding customer experience the world over, whilst benefiting from excellent work experience with a FTSE 100 company.

In the Sales department, we have recruited Apprentices for the last 3 years and it has been great to be involved in the programme. Supporting the teams as they progress through their careers has been extremely challenging and rewarding in equal measure, but every year we use what we have learned from the previous groups to continuously improve.

In the first few weeks the team focus on the Apprentices learning more about business and building strong relationships with each other with the aim of creating a feeling of belonging from the outset. The highlight for me of the first few weeks is a Dragons Den task we set, and I am always amazed at the confidence and creativity that the teams show.

I am a fan of the Apprentices giving us feedback and sharing their experience. Lewis Robson gave a great write up about his time so far.

"Casting my mind back to the 4th September 2017 sitting in the room with 39 other apprentices coming from different backgrounds I didn’t know what to expect. Not knowing anyone’s names or what apprenticeship they were doing was quite daunting to say the least. However as the day went on I slowly got more confident in speaking to those who I hadn’t come across before and by the end of the week it was safe to say I knew the vast majority of the team. As the weeks went by I got familiar with more and more of the team and eventually we got split into groups over a 3 week period to study more about Sage. After that, I got put in a team for the rest of my time at Sage and I couldn’t ask for a better team, and the support from my manager who has boosted my confidence through the roof and gave me the ability to pick up the phone and speak to customers. Fast forward through training, various role plays and 2 Sage Foundation days , it finally came to the day where I was ringing customers and getting them complete the Project discovery questionnaire. Onwards and upwards from here"
