Applying for roles in Marketing? You need to be doing this ONE thing

There is a reason I specialise in working with people in Marketing and the Creative and Tech industries.?

And no, it’s not just because this is where I have spent my entire career?

(although this massively helps my clients)

And it’s also not because I think the coolest people work in our industries?

(not that there aren’t Cool Cats in other industries, its just I feel like our industry has soooo many great people in it!)

No, the reason I work with people in Marketing and the Creative industries to help them find their next perfect role, is because they already possess an unbelievable number of the skills needed to secure AMAZING jobs.?

And I just have to show them how to apply these skills.

It’s easy!?But most people have no idea how valuable their industry skills are to job hunting.?

Here’s the big one you should be using if you work in Marketing and the Creative and Tech industries : Story-telling.

Story-telling is the backbone of the Creative industry. Once advertising agencies and brands realised the power of storytelling, convincing their consumer to buy products became very easy.

Think about Apple.

You don’t buy an iPhone because it has a good screen (lets be honest, they crack a lot!) or it takes good photos (some would argue there are better cameras out there!) or because its cheap (its not really is it?).

You buy an iPhone because Apple has shown you how incredible it is to to FaceTime your child when you are away for work, or how you can use that camera to make beautiful videos that will last a lifetime.

This is the story-telling.

They made a product. And then they create a beautiful brand story around it.

And because there is science between story-telling and hormones released from our brains - it is much more powerful as a way to convince you to buy something.

It’s the same in your job-hunt.

You should just be selling the ‘features’ of you. You should be wrapping the product (YOU!) up in a beautiful brand story that connects with your audience (the Hiring Manager) and convinces them to buy (hire) you.

Since Im feeling generous I want to share with you a module from my Creative Career Level Up Programme which teaches why Storytelling is our Super Power and how to use it in job hunting.

You can access it here

Enjoy!

Yep, Stephanie, everyone loves a good story so being able to identify and tell it sets you apart from the people who "just want to work."
