Because I create resumes for a living, I'm hearing the following from my clients:
- I thought I had a great resume already because I paid another coach to re-do it just a few months ago...
- If I can truly do the job, and can prove it with my experience, why are they not calling me after I apply?
- I email recruiters on LinkedIn and get no response...Isn't it their job to fill positions? So why don't they contact me?
First of all over 70% of all job applications are rejected even before seen by human eyes.
Here is the secret as to why your resume is not getting you calls for interviews.
So, because companies now receive hundreds upon hundreds of applications/resumes for even just one open position they have to have a system that will allow them to sort through all of these applicants to find the best fit.
Welcome to...the ATS (Applicant Tracking System)
This software allows companies and recruiters to collect, scan, sort and rank the job applicants to find a handful of applicants to interview.
At least 90% of all major companies use this system along with about 50% of smaller companies.
So, lets get to the reason you wanted to read this article in the first place.
The ATS software system scans your resume vs. the job description and provides the employer and/or recruiter a percentage of match against the keywords in the job description.
If your resume doesn't match up vs. the keywords........No call for an interview for you!
What if there was a way to increase your chances at getting a call?
There is...
We will review your resume and may suggest edits prior to the start of our service.
We will then scan your resume vs. the job description, using a resume scanning software, to then provide you those results giving you a percentage % of match to that job.
You will get to see what "Hard", "Soft" and "Other" keywords are missing from your resume.
You will need to strategically add those words into your resume. Then your going to feel more confident applying for those jobs, increasing your changes at getting your resume actually seen and past those evil resume bots.
Either you can continue to apply to hundreds of jobs with no call backs or you can schedule a 15-minute call to see if this service could be right for you and your family.

2 年I've applied for 100s of jobs in the tech field, and got virtually no response. It's kind of ridiculous the absurd amount of BS I have to do to get noticed by an employer. Build another website? Make a course? Make a YouTube channel?

5 年Nah, I get calls for interviews so the resume is not the problem. Sadly I think its just me. I am the problem. Too old, not professional looking enough; not experienced enough or rather too experienced in useless stuff and not experienced enough in the higher levels. I'm highly educated but not practically educated if that makes sense. Thanks anyway though, it is appreciated.

5 年Actually, I landed really awesome interviews! My favorite was with MPB in Jackson. I didn't land any of the jobs I'd applied for (with over 300 resumes sent out), so I decided that I'd go back to school. I'm missing something, I believe, and I'm not sure what that something is. Instead of giving into self-doubt, I applied for Mississippi College and thankfully, was accepted. If I can work for the Mayor of Hattiesburg as the Public Relations Assistant, publish books and magazines, manage social media, and still not land a job in my field I'll advance my skills and up my ante a bit. My Master's will be in Corporate Communications, with an emphasis in Public Relations and Psychology. I'm an advocate for youth with mental health struggles, so I'm bridging the gap between education and mental health. If one has the skills to hire him/herself, and no one else will hire him/her, that person should hire themselves, so they can do the job God called them to do. It isn't always them employer's fault for not seeing a person's value. Sometimes, that fault lies within. ?? -Katherine www.kd-prllc.com
