How important is knowledge in your property business? I believe that knowledge stands for more than the dictionary definition of facts, information and skills. It is within the actual word KNOWLEDGE that the keys to your success in property are to be found. Here’s how...
K is for KNOWLEDGE – learn, read, listen and apply knowledge from business, property or mindset related books.
Don’t allow yourself to be distracted by the latest news sensation nor the mindless scrolling on social media platforms nor accidentally diving head on into another addictive box set. Carpe diem! Go on a strict media diet and apply the focus needed for you to start or scale your business. Think of the long term benefits of all the energy and attention you apply into your business today.
N is for NETWORK - surround yourself with positive, action-taking, high achievers.
Set yourself up to win. Find someone who has done what you are wanting to do and ask them how they did it. People at property networks are incredibly generous with their time and their knowledge and will be more than willing to share their learnings, failures and successes with you. Property is a group sport so find a local or online network or a mastermind and join them.
I set up a property mastermind in January 2017 and have run over 50 sessions now and have seen incredible transformations and achievements over the years. I am also a very proud member of the incredible Property Sisters UK group so across these two networks I have surrounded myself with many inspirational people. Jim Rohn said you become the average of the five people you hang around with the most in terms of your health, wealth, attitude, income, conversation, reading content, inspiration, thoughts, appearance, actions, beliefs and more. Your five people will make a huge impact on your personal and professional life. Think about it. Who are your five?
O is for ORGANISATION - systemise your business and set yourself up to be outside the business operations.
Create a model which you can replicate, modify and improve. Repeat healthy actions, establish new habits, build routines and perform daily disciplines. Michael E Gerber describes this best in The E-Myth Revisited where he advocates that you work on your business and not in your business.
W is for WORK - with small steps every day which compound over time, success will come.
Realistically it may take you between two to four years to build a successful property business but by creating it properly with solid foundations, you will change the shape of your future forever. In Darren Hardy’s The Compound Effect, he describes the importance of adopting a weekly review process to assess your week’s wins and losses, make any adjustments needed and recognise those elements which should be appreciated or celebrated.
L is for LEVERAGE – in terms of time and money, only do the things that only you can do and outsource everything else.
After all, there are only so many hours in the day. Recognise your areas of strength and leverage them. What can you, and only you, do that if done well will make a real difference in your business and in your life? Take some time out today to check that you are leveraging all opportunities available to you.
E is for EDUCATION - invest in knowledge as this is the best return on investment you can make in your life.
Focus on you and what’s relevant to your life. Don’t be another graduate from the Shiny Penny University and get distracted by thinking that you should be doing what others are doing. Stay on track to fast track your life! There are many excellent free and paid for courses, webinars and podcasts out there. However a word of caution, be mindful of whom you learn from and invest your money and time with. Always conduct thorough due diligence before investing in any paid for property courses or mentoring.
D is for DEALS - seek them out.
Once you have decided on your strategic property model, you have to actively go find the deals. This can be hard work however the more effort and time spent invested here, the more likely your business will succeed. Be specific on what you are looking for and share your vision with others as then opportunities will start to present themselves.
G is for GOALS - apply a long-term vision to achieve success.
Know your reason WHY you do what you do. Never underestimate the value of setting goals, understanding your purpose and knowing what steps to take every day as these will ensure you are always on track to achieving your dreams. Have a purpose! Have a plan! Focus on WHY!
E is for ENTHUSIASM - your energy will drive your success.
Where your focus and intention goes, your energy flows and your results will show. Are you focused on what you love doing? Do you inject enthusiasm and energy into your business? If not, what is it you are focusing on? Property could either be the source of your passion or the vehicle which allows you to follow your true passion. What does property signify for you?
So this is my KNOWLEDGE system and it has worked really well for me not only in property but in other areas too such as podcasting and life coaching.
However, there is one caveat to note! As Anton Chekhov said, “Knowledge is of no value unless you put it into practice.”
So, get out there and apply your KNOWLEDGE today!

3 年Very interesting post. The key to sharing knowledge is communication. If people perceive value in what you offer they will engage with you, and perhaps they will become a future client.
