Earlier this year I joined a spirited group known as the "HIMSS Social Media Ambassadors." It's been a lot of fun, and a great learning experience. I think you might enjoy it too--after all, you're here, combing through LinkedIn....
The deadline is November 10th (this Friday), but you're a quick thinker and an articulate communicator--so go for it! Michael Gaspar at HIMSS, who started the program, lays out requirements and the application process here. You need to have some established social media experience, but the program is looking for new perspectives, so even if you don't fit every requirement, you might be a good fit. I'm reposting Michael's description of what being an Ambassador entails:
Each year HIMSS selects up to 20 health information technology leaders who demonstrate exceptional social media savviness in the advancement of health IT’s mission to improve health of populations. The 2017-2018 class of HIMSS Social Media Ambassadors will have the opportunity to:
- Participate in social media-focused activities before, during and after HIMSS18
- Receive complimentary, insider access to the HIMSS18 conference to highlight and nurture discussions from some of the industry’s brightest minds on social networks
- Meet and interact with HIMSS executives and HIMSS18 speakers
- Shape important, topically-driven dialogues leading up to and after HIMSS18
- Host onsite networking events and deliver pulse reports on the happenings of the conference and the industry at large
As part of the program, I have personally enjoyed meeting and learning from other Ambassadors and HIMSS attendees, and am appreciative of access to multiple avenues (blogs, panels, Twitter chats) to tee up and debate topics I'm passionate about with a broad swath of the health IT community. What are you passionate about? Please apply and tell us about it!
