Applus+ rises above the challenge in time-sensitive high-risk offshore inspection
Applus+ faced a challenging task when they were entrusted with the internal inspection of risers within an unmanned offshore platform in December 2023. The scope of work included addressing corrosion disturbances, adhering to client procedures, and determining the remaining riser wall thickness at the Splash Zone. The challenge presented to them was that the inspection had to be conducted at the low tide mark, providing a narrow window of just three to four days.
Complicating matters, the scope was issued to Applus+ with a short lead time, considering the intricate planning required and the high-risk nature of the task, which involved confined space entry, working under breathing apparatus whilst using rope access, and exposure to extreme temperatures.
The Applus+ site team’s dedication and coordinated efforts culminated in the successful and safe completion of the scope, on time, and adhering strictly to the schedule compliance outlined by the client.
Well done team! ??
