Applied Theater’s Audiences in Religious Developing Societies, Challenges and Opportunities
?
In contrast to Stage Theater, which remains distant from aspects of life, applied theatre establishes a profound connection with the audience, actively engaging with life itself, and holds the potential to instigate substantial social changes. Understanding the audiences of applied theatre and the specific sensitivities of each community is imperative for achieving a more impactful effect and implementing social changes. This article aims to address how applied theatre can contribute to the development of societies. To explore this, we have chosen communities characterized by both religious affiliations and developmental stages. The discussion encompasses a review of applied theatre theorists and various forms of applied theatre. Subsequently, the challenges encountered by applied theatre in religious and developing societies are examined, along with proposed solutions to overcome these challenges. Furthermore, the article highlights the optimal subjects for applied theatre groups to address in their work.
