What is International Standard Organization?
ISO is an international standard organization located in central Geneva / Switzerland. The organization started its activities in 23rd of February, 1947 in Geneva, Switzerland. ISO prepares product and management standards together with its member states of 196 countries. The most used quality management system in the world is an ISO 9001 3 million in the world, around 80 thousand in our country is working in accordance with this system. Turkey became a member in the May 26, 1955 with the ISO TS vehicle.
Standard or standardization, in a very short term; it means an example in production, understanding, management, measurement and testing. Or, if a longer definition is required, all research, experiments, application methods, etc. of a particular study will be carried out on behalf of that study. the rules for the work of the country and the interested party. Documents and documents resulting from these studies are called standard.
Quality is the sum of the characteristics of a product or service based on the ability to meet the identified or possible needs according to the TS 9005 standard definition. There are many definitions about quality. Quality is to satisfy the customer's expectations and requests, to satisfy the customer.
Let's come up to what the international standards organization are doing. Different countries have had different technologies. These differences caused different quality understanding of the product produced or the sector being served. To address these differences, ISO has been deployed all over the world to get the same quality of customer.
It was necessary to guarantee the quality and maintain this quality. For this purpose, the ISO organization published ISO 9000 standards in 1987 and put it into practice. ISO 9000 forms the model of the companies' quality management systems and establishes the infrastructure instead of setting the standard.
In 1994, the first ISO standards were composed of 4 separate articles. These:
ISO 9001: Product development, design and production covers all stages of manufacturing.
ISO 9002: Covered all stages of production.
ISO 9003: Only the testing stages of the manufacturing process.
ISO 9004: Providing guidelines for building quality management and systems.
In 2000, 4 separate articles were convened in one article as ISO 9001: 2000. With this standard established in 2000, the service sector which has not been laid down in the standards prepared in 1994 has been included in the standards. The standards have been harmonized with environmental management.
ISO 9001 standards were revised again in 2008 due to the ever-developing technologies and the continuous renewal of quality. Thus, it was made easy to understand, misunderstood concepts are fixed. ISO 9001: 2008 is examined under 5 main topics. These:
? Quality management system (General requirements, such as quality manual)
? Management responsibility (such as customer focus, quality policy)
? Resource management (provision of infrastructure, quality and management resources)
? Product service development (including planning, design and development of production processes)
? Measurement, analysis and improvement (general monitoring and measurement of the product or service, testing steps)
Finally, ISO 9001: 2015 revision focused on advanced quality management systems and risk based thinking.

In the installation of ISO 9001 system, it is necessary firstly to prepare a quality manual. In this book, the system to be established in relation to that institution should be defined firstly and its contents must be explained.
Procedures; all the sections within the company should be defined in this list. Instructions; Instructions on all machinery and equipment used must be listed. Forms; the forms and the instructions given in the procedures and instructions.
After all these operations are carried out, it is audited by the accredited certification body and the institution is given a standard certificate. After the issuance of this document, with the interim audits (3 years), the conformity of the standards in the institution shall be audited. prior to these audits, Target planning meeting, Enterprise risk analysis, Stakeholder management review, Quality control reports, Manufacturing or service planning forms, Training plan and training records, Calibration planning, Periodic maintenance plan and implementation, Customer satisfaction survey, Supplier performance evaluation, Internal audit, improvement and development activities, performance evaluation procedures are required.
Why should there be standards in mining?
Today, mining involves financial, technical and bureaucratic difficulties and risks in difficult conditions for investors at national and international scale. In carrying out these operations, sustainable production must be carried out in an environmentally friendly manner without harming human health.
In order for the product you produce in the domestic market or in the foreign market to find a market, production must be carried out in accordance with international norms. Unfortunately, mining operations are adapting to these standards over the last 20-30 years according to other sectors.
In our country, foreign investors from all continents took a permanent role in the mining sector of our country after the first calls to our mining sector in the 2000s, and this process has continued today.
