We are living in age of internet and collaboration and connected office, branch offices and running Applications over WAN. Connectivity between office consume major chuck in financial terms specially for SMB where Apps performance is marred by poor planning in bandwidth management and planning. Application downtime means loss of working hours besides delayed orders and unsatisfied customers.
To bring an answer for this dilemma is WAN Optimizer. It offers solutions over the WAN Network, which improves the situation to a significant degree. WAN optimization solutions are implemented and maintained after detailed examination of existing infrastructure setup, and running numerous rules. Before jumping into any solutions and to achieve quality solutions, we need extensive measure of information exchange that gives clear picture of abatement in the % of WAN congestion and how much is it costing to the organization.
Every organization (Banks, Share Markets, large industries that can be IT industry, Automobiles) has many applications that are running over the network so the available bandwidth get shared between them. However, if not balanced properly would lead to drastic loss to the business, data transactions and the performance of the applications even shutting down of the applications. There are many criteria’s that must be fulfilled to attain considerable amount of data transaction provided there is a decrease in the % of data loss over the network and these need to be analyzed and examined thoroughly to improve and suggest a viable solution.
There are complex criteria to suggest WAN optimization solution. There are pre requisites that are taken into account like Network Infrastructure, Network Design (Head Office with other Branches), Cable used (Cabling (UTP 6e, Fibre Optic Cable, Wireless connecting branches, core switches)), Model of Router, Model of Switches (Layer 2 or 3), Capacity of the organization, Applications working or will work. Security mechanism if applied/will be applied like ISA, Forefront, Business solution etc. Servers, Data Base need to be considered. How the calculation is done between them is a separate and most complex part that include Network Bandwidth Consumed, % of data loss, Ratio between % of bandwidth consumed in internal network etc. etc. to name a few.
Depending on the outcome, proper solution can be implemented. Cost of having professional solution is never too high then running the business itself.
