Application for two unskilled TEACHERS in a crazy school
I am a Teacher working in an Alternative School.
What is alternative schooling?
- Our children bring only homework books and food to school. They use textbooks, notebooks and stationeries provided in school, and go back with whatever they have to learn at home noted in their homework books.
- We follow certain textbooks and exclusive content. But each child learns in their own pace. It is called Family grouping/Vertical grouping/Multi grade Multi level (MGML) learning.
- There is very minimal board and chalk teaching. Each child sits with the teacher and is guided on their piece of learning. Students in the same class, maybe learning different chapters or even books according to their learning capacities.
- We have no exams. The teacher has to be aware of each child’s progress on all fronts of academics, behavior, physical and mental growths.
- School runs from 8 am – 5:30/6 pm. It ranges over periods of Cleaning, Singing, Mathematics, English, Science, Telugu and Handicrafts classes.
- There is loads of concrete, pictorial(semi-concrete) and abstract materials in the school. The hard work of 34 years of existence.
- That is why we have only 43 students ranging from grade 1-5.
Who are we?
Sumavanam English Medium School is a rural school in the middle of 10 villages. Beside Bangalore Highway near Madanapalle town, Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh.
It is in between wonderful greenery, fields and pure isolation.
It has been running since 1982.
What are the required teacher roles?
1 Telugu Teacher and 1 general teacher (Mathematics, English, Science and Craft) for the academic year 2017-18.
Remuneration of 15 K will be provided. Free accommodation can be provided in campus (given that you are used to snakes, scorpions, rats, insects, ghosts and pure silence).
Warnings –
- This is a full time job. Very demanding and exhausting.
- You will be under the guidance of 2 brilliant teachers. The founders who have reflectively taught for 36 years.
- You will mostly be using school curriculum and content. Other content Materials are minimally entertained.
- There will be no holidays, other than the vacations and major national holidays.
- We focus on calmness rather than excitement. Slow progression rather than keeping with the tide.
- Continuous learning mindset with no chip on your shoulder is absolutely necessary to strive here.
