APPLICATION OF QURANIC VERSION UNDER SELF DISCIPLINE WITH TAUHEED & REASONING, A SOLE SOLUTION FOR MUSLIMS

History is full of human application of religious sentiments for personal benefits and political pressures in which the blind followers’ sentiments are inflamed to gain momentum in a social set-up. Unfortunately, in mob psychology, people do not apply senses and rather are enchanted by the rosy words and misinterpretation of religious verdicts by those who are claiming to be the sole custodians of the Divine law. Islamic theology is based on peace as the non-believers embraced Islam due to warmth, human respect and security provided to mankind. Unfortunately, when its teachers and students do not follow the path of the Prophet, who was broad-minded, exhibited tolerance and patience by forgiving the kaffirs and his enemies, and they rather go to excess to create extremism along aggressive behavior and become a tool to anarchy. How will other people be attracted to such religious leaders? Those who claim to know the Prophet’s words by heart never like to read Qur’anic verses and discover the role of the Prophet’s model in practical life. Mere chanting of naats with specific dresses without adapting the set standard of behavior does not make one the custodian of Islam, rather a disgrace to the image of the Prophet and his preaching. Allah has made clear to all mankind that He is aware of each intensions and deeds as narrated in V-2:284,” To Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on the earth, and whether you disclose what is in your ownselves or conceal it, Allah will call you to account for it. Then He forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills. And Allah is Able to do all things.”

Instead of studying the Holy Books, the ignorant followers take the words of these leaders for granted and create socio-political agitation in which anti-social, opposition political elements, frustrated street men also join them without applying their reasoning skills. It is a misunderstanding among people of religious background that some have been granted a privileged caste, sect or leader to decide the fate of other religious sects by passing remarks that they are like kaffirs and have authority to recommend paradise and provisions by their prayers. So, they claim to hold an edge over others’ fate. On the Day of Justice, there will be no favoritism or support by anyone, except the facing of consequences for the deeds done in life as in V-40: 16-19,” The Day when they will (all) come out, nothing of them will be hidden from Allah. Whose is the kingdom this Day? (Allah Himself will reply to His Question): It is Allah's the One, the Irresistible! This Day shall every person be recompensed for what he earned. No injustice (shall be done to anybody). Truly, Allah is Swift in reckoning.  And warn them (O Muhammad) of the Day that is drawing near (i.e. the Day of Resurrection), when the hearts will be choking the throats, and they can neither return them (hearts) to their chests nor can they throw them out. There will be no friend, nor an intercessor for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.), who could be given heed to. Allah knows the fraud of the eyes, and all that the breasts conceal.”

Some claim of being blessed, even like Ahl-e kitab claim that hell-fire will not touch them. Qur’an clearly stated that no one will take the burden of another and without any discrimination, strict justice will be done according to one’s deeds. The scale is fixed for awards of deeds of everyone, as in V-41:46,” Whosoever does righteous good deed it is for (the benefit of) his oneself, and whosoever does evil, it is against his oneself, and your Lord is not at all unjust to (His) slaves.”

Instead of creating rumors and lawlessness by making fatwas over others’ faith by personal discretion which may create chaos in religious affairs harming socio-political system, insight is provided for self-correction in Al-Hujurat V-49:9-13,” And if two parties or groups among the believers fall to fighting, then make peace between them both, but if one of them rebels against the other, then fight you (all) against the one that which rebels till it complies with the Command of Allah; then if it complies, then make reconciliation between them justly, and be equitable. Verily! Allah loves those who are equitable. The believers are nothing else than brothers (in Islamic religion). So, make reconciliation between your brothers, and fear Allah, that you may receive mercy. O you who believe! Let not a group scoff at another group, it may be that the latter are better than the former; nor let (some) women scoff at other women, it may be that the latter are better than the former, nor defame one another, nor insult one another by nicknames. How bad is it, to insult one's brother after having Faith [i.e. to call your Muslim brother (a faithful believer) as: "O sinner", or "O wicked", etc.]. And whosoever does not repent, then such are indeed Zalimun (wrong-doers, etc.). O you who believe! Avoid much suspicions, indeed some suspicions are sins. And spy not, neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting). And fear Allah. Verily, Allah is the One Who accepts repentance, Most Merciful. O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honorable of you with Allah is that (believer) who has At-Taqwa [i.e. one of the Muttaqun (pious). Verily, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware.

In short, life, children and provisions are in control of only the Lord and not by self-made associates, saints, etc. In V-42:19,” Allah is very Gracious and Kind to His slaves. He gives provisions to whom He wills. And He is the All-Strong, the All-Mighty. 30-31. And whatever of misfortune befalls you, it is because of what your hands have earned. And He pardons much. And you cannot escape from Allah (i.e. His Punishment) in the earth, and besides Allah you have neither any Wali (guardian or a protector) nor any helper.”

No doubt poverty, overpopulation, lack of civic-awareness and improper education in educational institutions like Madrassas are the main reason of extremism and lawlessness trend in the developing country. Therefore, it is an urgent need to bring a revolutionary change particularly in the Madrassas where free education is provided to lower class children by semi-trained mullahs/Ustad in outdated educational system which adds to extremes and personality impoverishment of the teachers and students. In order to seek the social and national resolution to above-mentioned goals, the following strategies are suggested to be implemented:  

a. Besides a national language (Urdu), English as a compulsory language may be strictly introduced at 2nd grade level in all the institutions (including Madrasa). English speaking and writing skills should be given importance at all stages.

b. Quran with translation and study of basic Islamic concepts in local (Urdu) and English may be taught in all schools from 3rd grade to 12th grade to cut down the unnecessary hold of orthodox mullahs who exploit the public ignorance of basic Islamic concepts for personal and political benefits. Study of Islam, in comparison to other world religion, and the application of Islam based on reasoning should be introduced at college level.

c. All the teachers and administrators should be appointed after a thorough screening by a team of psychologists after assessing the personality traits, communication skills, knowledge about adolescent psychology, religious insight based on reasoning and tolerance, leadership confidence, flexibility, suggestive skills and insight to resolve issues in an institution. There is dire need to bring revolutionary changes in the selection and in-service training system in educational institutions (all schools & madrassahs in the country).

d. Every teacher (particularly from the Madrassahs) should go through the personality assessment and, afterwards, he should take the following courses before being certified to start teaching in any institution at any level. They must complete two foreign international languages (spoken and written skills) with one year; internship in teaching and community-related research work. During teacher training, the teacher must pass 3 courses in social sciences, 2 courses in basic sciences, and one each course in personality development, effective communication skills, adolescent psychology, environmental psychology, current affairs.

e. Study of Islam in reference to other religions of the world for creating harmony between government policies and extremist (Knowledge and application of Qur’an in the present circumstances, research paper on Islam in reference to tolerance, sharing, forgiveness, application of moral and ethical values in the present set-up in daily life, positive and flexible approach and positive reinforcement values, good and effective models in Islam to attract the non-believers, etc.).

f. All the subject at all level should be assessed by experts on the criteria of knowledge based on application, reasoning, community-oriented and career-oriented skills for gradually preparing students for professional insight, and to develop individual skills at final stage to open their own business, etc.

g. Personality analysis and screening of anchors, script-writers and program launching authorities should be introduced for creating national coherence and to face global challenges, social unrest, socio-economic & welfare issues, stability in the political culture and improve the national image abroad and within the country, particularly among youth.                                                 

h. Rules, regulations and training of media services to handle the terrorist issues are important for awareness of the public. Well-versed, patriotic, and honest people should be called for creating maturity and homogeneity at the national level. Code of ethics with a strict national policy should be monitored to develop awareness of a national identity based on principles of justice and respect for democratic rights and duties of citizens of Pakistan. Strict penalties should be introduced against TV programs which manipulate and excite the anxious and confused public through rumors, disinformation, and petty benefits for certain groups. 

i.To create awareness of nationalism and good citizenship in the masses, there is a need to develop a global strategy. To revive national spirit and good citizenship sentiments in the public and students, the media needs to be equipped through permanent courses, seminars, competitive activities from elementary to university level, awareness to buy Pakistan-made products, etc.

j. Pakistan Psychologist and NGOs Forum for National Issues and Crisis Cell may be established under the direct supervision of the Presidency to control this national crisis. “Psychological, Social, Educational, Vocational, Socio-economical, Crisis Management, Anti-social aspects, Media-related issues for Improving International image of Pakistan and Islam as a peaceful and balanced religion of human beings, Resolution and psychotherapy is dependent on the psychopathology of the Individual in study.
