Measuring the Application
Measuring the Application
When applying to a university, the admissions team judges a student on several elements. The essays, supplement material, portfolio, and extra-curricular activities are indicators of the student's journey and are an indicator of whether or not a student is ready for university. We sometimes lose the very essence of the application while highlighting all aspects. It is thus essential to remember the central theme of your application.
Your application must revolve around the central theme and thus be the deciding factor for the activities that you showcase and their chronological order. Reflect that it should depict a comprehensive picture of the student and not a glimpse of assorted factors or strengths. The application is considered in its entirety and not as separate sections. The admission officers strive to see the student's?ACHIEVEMENTS?and accomplishments as a complete picture and use individual sections as building blocks. After a diligent enquiry into every aspect of the application, the admissions team determines the prospects for admission and estimates the student offering to the university. Each section should thus, complement the other and convey the central theme.
There are mandatory sections in the application, make sure those are not skipped. Write, Edit and Check!
For all international students, it is important to fill the education section with extra care. Ensure that the board names and designations go in correctly. The subjects embarked on and the level of education is distinctly mentioned. The admission officer matches the requirement based on these. If your board/education system is not mentioned, clarify from the university/university representatives as to the correct way to depict that.
The personal Statement/University essay is a chance to get noticed for the unique talents and experiences you have. It’s a vital part of the application process as it is an opportunity to talk about yourself and your passions, outside of your grades. Divide your accomplishments and decide which ones should find their way to the application. Then pick up sections where they can feature. In case there are multiple essays, for example, use a separate activity/accomplishment to answer the question. Divide the strengths in accordance to ensure that the questions are responded to through each.
Each section of the application ascertains a definite strength or achievement, take time to understand this and then attempt to answer them in accordance.?
For example, your academic section, and your grades, should answer the following question: How do you respond to a challenging curriculum?
Your list of voluntary services requires you to answer: How and what may you contribute to your society??
When you make the application, keep in mind the following questions and ensure that these are surely answered through your application.
What do you hope to gain by studying at this university?
How do you respond to a challenging curriculum?
