Beijing Yintai Zhongxin is located in the southwest corner of the International Trade Center on the East Third Ring Road of the CBD. It was designed by a world-renowned architect and is a landmark building on Chang'an Avenue in the new century. The total construction area of the project is 350,000 square meters, and the main building is 249.9 meters high, including the super five-star Park Hyatt Hotel invested and managed by the American Hyatt International Hotel Management Group, the ultra-luxury Park Hyatt Apartments and top hotel serviced apartments.

In the traditional central air-conditioning system, the control of fans and pumps usually uses the opening of baffles and valves to adjust the flow, so as to achieve the effect of adjusting the indoor temperature. According to the relevant electrical person in charge, although the input cost of this type of control is low, the operation effect is not satisfactory. There are mainly the following points:

--- Serious waste of electric energy, high electricity bills

——The indoor temperature difference changes greatly, and the comfort level cannot meet customer requirements

——High equipment failure rate, frequent maintenance, high maintenance costs

In order to better solve the above problems, the electrical director of Yintai Center used ABB VFD (Variable-frequency Drive) to control the fans and standby loads in the central air-conditioning system, replacing the original control method, and achieved good results.

System Configuration

The central air conditioning system is mainly composed of heating system, ventilation system and cooling system. Yintai Center has an exhaust system on each floor, and is equipped with 18 cooling tower fans and pumps and 3 central auxiliary cooling tower fans that operate 24 hours a day. In order to achieve precise control and energy-saving effect, ABB VFD (Variable-frequency Drive) control is adopted for fresh air units and cooling tower fans and pumps. The product model is ACS510, and the power is 18.5KW and 45KW, a total of 180 units. VFD (Variable-frequency Drive) control can adopt local and remote control methods, and the remote control can directly communicate with the host computer through the MODBUS field bus built in VFD (Variable-frequency Drive).

ACS510 is ABB's standard transmission product, which is specially optimized for fan and pump loads. The built-in PFC macro (fan pump control macro) and SPFC macro (cycle soft start macro) are equivalent to VFD (Variable-frequency Drive) A small PLC is installed inside, which can realize the control of up to 7 motors by one VFD (Variable-frequency Drive), which reduces the initial cost and external wiring, reliable operation and low failure rate. In addition, the built-in variable-inductance DC reactor or AC reactor with patented technology can significantly reduce the harmonic content of the grid-side current and voltage. The harmonic current distortion rate is less than 35%, and the harmonic voltage distortion rate is less than 4%. Immunity to grid transients. A large number of built-in EMC filter circuits are VFD (Variable-frequency Drive) that meet the European electrical standard EN61800-3, which reduces the interference of electromagnetic radiation on electrical equipment in the building.

According to the electrical person in charge of Yintai Center, the perfect combination of ABB VFD (Variable-frequency Drive) and the building self-maintenance rate control system can greatly reduce the failure rate of equipment, significantly reduce the maintenance rate, and achieve the highest system operating efficiency. At the same time, the realization of centralized control makes the operation simpler and the control easier. The most important point is that, based on calculations based on operating data, the annual power saving rate can reach about 30%, and the power saving potential is huge.
