Apple's WWDC Keynote: The Company You Love to Hate

As someone who has been an Apple developer since 1984, I thought, I would share a few thoughts about watching the WWDC keynote.
Apple once again proved why they are the company you love to hate. On the one hand, they introduced some amazing new software products. The biggest one in my mind is allowing developers to use Apple login, so you do not have to share with Facebook or Google when you set up a login. A fantastic feature of that is that if you want to receive Email from the developer, Apple will supply a virtual Email to the developer and then forward your the Emails which you can stop at any time. They improved maps, improved other security features but for developers, the most significant change was a new version of Xcode- that included a whole new set of tools to handle building interfaces with less code and more flexibility. They also develop a method to port iPad apps to the Mac quickly.
Now for the hateful part- Apple announced two new products today. Its new modular Mac Pro for Professional users. It's expensive as was expected, but once again Apple showed how cheap they could be. That base configuration that will set you back $6000 comes with only a 256 GB SSD- They also announced a new monitor, the first Apple monitor in a decade. I had speculated that it would cost around $1200. As they went through the specs, I guessed $1800. I was not ready for the $5000 price that they announced. However, in chutzpa that only Apple could have, it does not come with a stand, for that you have to spend an additional $1000.
