Apple's highly anticipated "Glowtime" event, scheduled for September 9, 2024, is set to unveil a range of new products and features, with the iPhone 16 lineup taking center stage. As reported by CNET, the event will showcase Apple's push into artificial intelligence with its new Apple Intelligence platform, alongside updates to the Apple Watch and AirPods. According to Mac Rumors, the iPhone 16 series is expected to introduce enhanced AI capabilities, larger displays for Pro models, and new camera features, while the Apple Watch Series 10 may mark its 10th anniversary with significant upgrades.
iPhone 16 Series Innovations
The iPhone 16 lineup is expected to introduce several key innovations. Pro models may feature larger displays of 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches respectively, achieved through slimmer bezels. A new "Capture" button for enhanced camera control is anticipated on all models. The devices will be powered by A18 and A18 Pro chips, designed to support Apple Intelligence AI capabilities. Pro versions could debut in new color options, including Gold Titanium. While hardware changes may be incremental, the focus is on integrating advanced AI features to potentially drive a new upgrade cycle.
Apple Watch Series 10 Features
Marking its 10th anniversary, the Apple Watch Series 10 is expected to receive significant upgrades. Rumors suggest larger display options of 45mm and 49mm, along with a thinner case design and a new magnetic band attachment system. Health monitoring capabilities may expand to include sleep apnea detection, though some advanced features like hypertension detection are not anticipated this year. The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is also slated for an update, focusing primarily on internal improvements rather than exterior changes.

AirPods Redesign and Features
Two new AirPods models are expected to debut at the event, featuring redesigned aesthetics with shorter stems and USB-C charging cases. The mid-tier variant may introduce active noise cancellation, bridging the gap between standard and Pro versions. These updates aim to maintain current pricing structures, with entry-level models at $129 and mid-range options at $169. While the high-end AirPods Max are due for a refresh, significant changes are unlikely beyond a potential USB-C port upgrade and new color options.
iOS 18 and AI Enhancements
The upcoming iOS 18 update is set to introduce significant AI enhancements through Apple Intelligence, with a focus on improving Siri's capabilities. Key features include summarizing messages and notifications, as well as a new visual interface that activates a glowing border around the device when Siri is summoned. While some advanced AI functionalities may not be available until 2025, the update aims to make Siri more conversational and contextually aware. The release of iOS 18 is expected shortly after the event, likely in the week of September 20, coinciding with the launch of the new iPhone models.
