Apple VR...err...AR...err "Spatial Computer" approaches
The indie start-up based in Cupertino shared some more details about the Apple Vision Pro headset that was announced last year. Probably to help justify the price tag that is reminiscent of your first car.
Another point they were consistently hammering home is the much fancier term they prefer is "spatial computing" and not like those kiddie-sounding VR headsets. Apple clearly knows how to market things into becoming a success. Enjoy these much more affordable stories!?

MIT and Ministry of Supply Unveil Shape-Shifting Dress
"Who are you wearing?" will soon be "What are you wearing??" thanks to the clothing company Ministry of Supply and MIT's Self-Assembly Lab unveiling a groundbreaking dress made from heat-sensitive yarn. The dress, part of the 4D knit line, starts as a baggy shift dress but can transform into radically different styles when exposed to high temperatures.
The partnership between Ministry of Supply and MIT received a $1 million grant from Advanced Functional Fabrics of America. The dress's texture is similar to cotton cashmere, ensuring comfort, and it's made using active yarn embedded within viscose yarn. The unique manufacturing process allows for customization and cost savings, and it's expected to appeal to those looking for unique, sustainable clothing options.

Solana Mobile Chapter Two Preorders = Sold Out
Solana Labs, yes the blockchain, started Solana Mobile and released The Saga smartphone in 2023 to a very "meh" reception. The company announced preorders for Chapter 2 this week, a lower price point version, and they had 30,000 on the books in 30 hrs. Customers were able to secure a pre-order with a $450 deposit, which covers the entire cost of the device.
The Solana chain has been a late bloomer in popularity for the past 6 months with an emphasis on gaming. So piecing together the ability to have a mobile phone with a built-in crypto wallet that can be used for various Solana integrations seems to be the product-market fit fans have been waiting for. Biggest bummer? It's a 2025 launch (womp-womp).
