Apple Podcasts Celebrating Asian Heritage Month

Apple Podcasts has been celebrating Asian Heritage month by creating this curated list featuring Asian Hosted Podcast. This is my second time on this list which I have been truly grateful for.

Since its still Asian Heritage Month, I wanted to showcase the shows that was highlighted. Please support them by subscribing, leaving a 5 star review and sharing the shows with others.

When I first started podcasting, there was hardly any Asian hosted podcasts but now more and more Asians have been setting up their own shows and creating their authentic voice in the process.

8. Saturday School Podcast

Wake up! Saturday School is a podcast where Brian Hu (@husbrian) and Ada Tseng (@adatseng) teach your unwilling children about Asian American pop culture history. New episodes released Saturdays at 8am, when all your friends are still in bed watching cartoons. It’ll be a blast from the past, as they dig up some of their favorite works they’ve come across covering Asian American arts & entertainment over the years — and discover other gems for the first time. Saturday School is a proud founding member of Potluck, a collective of podcasts featuring unique stories and voices from the Asian American community.

9. ABG — Asian Boss Girl

A podcast for the modern day Asian American woman hosted by Melody Cheng, Helen Wu, and Janet Wang. We started this podcast as an outlet for topics we are interested in, and for sharing stories we have as 20–30 something yr. old Asian American women working, dating, and living in Los Angeles. It’s no secret that Asian women are lacking in almost all media outlets. As three women working in finance, tech, and production who balance careers, life aspirations, and eventful social lives (we have our fair share of 5am returns from the club), we hope our perspectives can help, inform, and entertain those girls (and guys) with similar backgrounds or an interest in our backgrounds. We like to think of this as our invitation for you to join our once private girl talk sessions! So grab a glass of wine and let’s get this show started ;)

14. Books and Boba

This is a book club dedicated to books written by authors of Asian and Pacific Islander descent. We cover a wide range of genres including contemporary, historical fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, YA, nonfiction, thrillers, graphic novels, and memoirs.

Every month, the hosts of the book club record a podcast episode to discuss the month’s book. Members are strongly encouraged to share their thoughts on the monthly pick in the Goodreads forums.

22. The Vietnamese Boat People

Between 1975 to 1990s, almost two million Vietnamese risked their lives to flee oppression and hardship after the Vietnam War, in one of the largest mass exoduses in modern history. Escaping by boat, many were captured and brutally punished, and hundreds of thousands died along the journey. This population of people are known as the ‘Vietnamese Boat People’ and these are their stories.
