World's largest hotel chain plans to add over 100 new properties in India by 2025

The world's largest hotel chain, 万豪酒店 , plans to expand to at least 10 new cities in India in the next two years. "We are in 40 cities today, that should be 50 cities or more by 2025. And maybe what is exciting to me is that results in us creating 10,000 new jobs across India,"? Anthony Capuano , President & CEO of Marriott International, told?CNBC-TV18?on Wednesday.?

Between opened and planned hotels in the pipelines, the company is looking at expanding to a total of 250 hotels in India by 2025, he said. Marriott International has 30 brands and over 8,000 properties located in 139 countries. At present, it has 140 hotels in India.

India’s edtech market expected to grow to $10 billion by 2025

India is the second largest market for e-learning after the US with a market size of $6 billion, and is expected to grow to $10 billion by 2025. K–12 leads the market in terms of sector-wise growth at $2.7 billion, followed by College and Upskilling.

Indian edtech startups had managed to keep their pots boiling until the beginning of the pandemic, the sector had just one unicorn — BYJU'S. In the last three years, six edtech startups have entered the billion-dollar club.

TCS campus placements: Tech giant plans to hire 40,000 freshers in FY24

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on April 12 maintained that it looks to make 40,000 campus offers to freshers in the 2023-2024 fiscal amid worries of a slowdown in hiring in the tech sector.

In FY23, TCS says it onboarded over 44,000 freshers and its highest-ever number of experienced professionals. This comes while selected candidates from peers like Wipro and LTI Mindtree have suggested that they are facing onboarding delays.

PhonePe gets additional $100 mil from General Atlantic, pi Ventures raises Rs 100 crore & more

Here’s a lowdown of the top deals from the startup space.

Digital payments service provider PhonePe has confirmed a $100 million additional tranche of investment from General Atlantic, a leading global growth equity firm, and its co-investors as part of its ongoing fundraising. The company has raised $750 million in fresh funds this year.

The homegrown digital payments decacorn raised $350 million from General Atlantic in January 2023 and $100 million from Ribbit Capital , Tiger Global Management and TVS Capital Funds in February. The fintech platform also secured $200 million in primary capital from Walmart at a pre-money valuation of $12 billion in March.


Early-stage venture fund pi Ventures has received a commitment of Rs 100 crores or 15 percent of the corpus out of Fund of Funds for #Startups managed by SIDBI. This is nearly 2.5 times of what FFS had invested in the first fund. pi Ventures will utilise the funds to back Seed, Pre-Series A and Series A startups working in AI and deeptech segments.?
