Apple October Event 2024: Everything You Need to Know About New M4 Macs, iPads mini and iPhone SE 4, Watch SE 3 Coming in 2025
Apple is working on another event for October, and here's everything we're expecting to see announced or released later this coming month. While there hasn't been an official announcement yet, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman , Apple is apparently going to hold an event in October to announce new iPads, including an updated iPad Mini, along with the first Macs to feature the M4 chip, such as new M4 MacBook Pro and iMac models.
MacBook Pro:
We aren’t expecting any major changes here except for the inclusion of the M4 chip. The MacBook Pro was redesigned back in 2021, so no big updates are expected in terms of design, though OLED displays and a thinner design are rumored for 2026. The M4 chip will be the main attraction, powering Apple’s new intelligence features, which should be released to the public by late October.
iMac:
The new iPad is expected to get an M4 chip update as well, but no major design changes. There's hope for a switch from Lightning to USB-C on accessories like the Magic Keyboard, Mouse, and Trackpad, finally bringing these in line with other devices.
Redesigned Mac Mini:

The Mac Mini is set to receive a major redesign, the first since 2010. The new Mac Mini will reportedly shrink to about the size of an Apple TV but may be slightly taller. It will retain its aluminum shell, and reports suggest it will be like an iPad Pro in a small box. The M4 and M4 Pro chips will power two versions of the Mac Mini. Ports include multiple USB-C and HDMI but may drop USB-A, which could be a drawback for those still using older accessories.
iPad Mini:
Apple is finally expected to update the iPad Mini to the seventh generation. Rumored features include a faster chip, upgraded cameras, a fix for the "jelly scrolling" issue in portrait mode, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and new color options. Multiple sources, including Ming-Chi Kuo, have pointed to production starting in the second half of 2024, so this update seems imminent.
Apple could also announce an iPad 11 at the event, though that is still unconfirmed.
In summary, the October event will focus on new iPads and Macs with the highlight being the introduction of the M4 chip across devices. This means enhanced performance, but with mostly subtle design changes.
