Apple Event - Oct, 2020

Last night’s Apple event lived up to expectations.

At Apple’s September event, the world awaited the launch of the latest iPhones among other advances, but Apple had another plan in mind. Yesterday, 13th October 2020, was a dream for all as they announced the iPhone 12 series, HomePod Mini, and MagSafe wireless charging system. I’ve put together a few highlights from the event yesterday!

 Here’s what was revealed!

 1.   The night kick-started with Apple’s homePod Mini. The 360 acoustic experience of the HomePod mini was described as an experience ‘’unheard of’’. Apple has its wordplay in place! The HomePod Mini takes smart technology a notch higher than the existing status quo. It can distinguish between the voices of family members and provide personalised music, news, and updates as per individual interests. Apple stressed the high standards of privacy existence, ensuring that none of the information recorded will be shared with Apple.

2.   Apple reveals that the iPhone 12 models are powered by Apple’s A14 Bionic chip and comes with Apple’s Super Retina XDR Display. Furthermore, the iPhone comes with MagSafe, which magnetically attaches to your phone to charge it. The cherry on the top is the additional ceramic shield over the screen, which Apple goes on to say, “Makes it the strongest smartphone glass to date”

3.   The iPhone 12 Mini, is the smallest phone introduced yet! It is even smaller than the iPhone 8. However, its display seems larger due to its edge to edge screen. It is also the most affordable model launched at the event. Even though the phone differs significantly from the iPhone 12 in look and price, its specs are very similar.

4.   The Apple 12 Pro-line that was unveiled yesterday was of stainless steel finish, leaving everyone’s jaw dropped. The Apple 12 Pro max is the largest Apple phone to date with a 6.7-inch screen. This iPhone has 3 back cameras which have a LIDAR sensor for improved augmented reality apps and faster autofocus features.

5.   Apple reintroduced Magsafe wireless charging. The MagSafe foldable Charger Duo enables one to charge their iPhone and Apple watch simultaneously! Now, that’s what I call a good 2 in 1 deal.  

Tim Cook started off by calling the upcoming launches, “The new era of the iPhone”, rightly so!

The event was a delight to experience, the only missing element was the charger and AirPods in the iPhone boxes. An extremely applaudable attempt made by Apple to be 100 carbon neutral by 2030, I must say that the wait has been worthwhile. What are your thoughts on the launch?
