??Inspiration and Connection?

Attending the ADE Academy with fellow Canadian leaders and my colleague Megan McKellar was an absolute privilege and an energizing way to begin the summer. Being surrounded by like-minded educators ignited a sense of connection, innovation, and reflection. The energy and enthusiasm shared among participants created an environment ripe for collaborative growth and meaningful conversations.

Highlights from the Leadership Strand of the Academy:

?? Session 1: Building a Positive Culture - with Rob Policicchio and Brad Carter

• Culture Starts Small: Relationships and psychological safety are foundational.
• Leadership Authenticity: Effective leaders are their true selves, both in and out of work.
• Strategic Models: Utilizing the Diffusion of Innovation and Gartner’s Hype Cycle to assess readiness and support change.

??? Session 2: Courageous Conversations - co-presented with Shantel Clark

• Frameworks for Success: Introduced two practical frameworks for navigating challenging leadership dialogues. Explore the 5-step? framework here.
• Preparation is Key: Understanding the context and potential barriers before entering a conversation.
• Empathy and Clarity: Approach conversations with empathy and clarity to foster mutual understanding and resolution.
• Ongoing Support: Establish a culture of continuous support and open communication to address issues proactively.

?? Session 3: Coaching and Empowering Others - Kevin Amboe

• Unpacking Leadership Roles: Explored the roles of coach, collaborator, mentor, and consultant.
• Empowerment Through Coaching: Coaching empowers others to make decisions, commit to actions, and achieve results.
• Reflecting and Envisioning: Reflect on current practices and envision future collaborations for continuous improvement.

? Looking Forward

Energized with new ideas and strategies for implementation, I’m excited to continue this journey of innovation and leadership alongside my fellow Canadian leaders. The insights gained and the connections made at the academy will undoubtedly shape our efforts to create dynamic and supportive learning environments in service of our students.?
