Apple workers completed work on the initial iteration of iOS 16 last week, according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. This most likely indicates that Apple will concentrate on fixing bugs in the last few weeks before the release of iOS 16 to the general public rather than adding many or any significant new features or modifications to the operating system. Gurman reaffirmed in the most recent issue of his "Power On" newsletter that the release of iOS 16 and watchOS 9 together with the new iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8 models is scheduled for September, while he anticipates the release of iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura for October.

“Apple engineers completed work on the iOS 16.0 update this past week, and it will be released in September along with watchOS 9. The new hardware will be compatible with such updates. However, due to Stage Manager-related delays to the iPad software, the updates to macOS Ventura and iPadOS are now planned for October to coincide with the new hardware lineup.”

According to a recent rumour by Gurman, Apple will have an event on September 7 to introduce the new iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8 models. Apple has not yet formally confirmed the event, but it is probable that the company will also reveal the release dates for iOS 16 and watchOS 9. Gurman predicts that Apple will have a second event in October to unveil new Macs and iPads, including refreshed iPad Pro models with the M2 processor.
