Appearance is a controversial topic. As soon as someone starts talking about how you should present yourself, people immediately shield themselves with defence mechanisms and start throwing names like Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates etc. for their modesty in dressing. Without realising the fact that even though they wear relaxed clothes and appear minimalistic, for every important occasion in life, they have dressed UP in a suit to look credible and appropriate for the occasion. As far as Steve Jobs goes, we have all known him for his black turtle necks which became his dress-code and eventually his personal style, but how many of us know how his life was besides who he was as a professional? It's not easy to live a happy life when you're a single dimensional and not a multi- dimensional personality.
No one can be restricted for what they choose to wear, but your clothes should work for you, for the occasion and for the achievement of your goals. Appropriate clothes can never be judged with it's price tag, your clothes can be appropriate for your roles and goals and yet be affordable. If clothes are your second skin, make them look interesting, creative and appreciative so that you look good, feel great and perform better in them. Clothes have a strong power to influence the mood and feelings of the wearer and hence you cannot afford to underplay such an important resource. Always remember, "Clothes alone aren't going to change the world, but the people who wear them will."
