APPEA’s inaugural 2021 Budget Preview Webinar kicks off tomorrow, bringing together several government and industry experts to discuss the future direction of Australia’s economic recovery.
The webinar, Budget 2021-22 and Beyond, is free to watch for APPEA members and will cover investment, productivity and job creation opportunities in context of the 2021-22 Federal Budget not just this year, but for several years to come. This year’s Budget represents a significant opportunity to unlock the means to boost Australia’s economic recovery from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last year’s 2020-21 Federal Budget introduced several short-term implementations (such as temporary full expensing and loss carry back measures) that carried an immediate impact and provided a much-needed stimulus to the economy last year.
Now that Australia has successfully weathered its first recession in 30 years, we can turn to the 2021-22 Budget to identify long-term opportunities that will ensure continued growth and job creation.
Spearheaded by the kind of capital-intensive projects familiar to industrial sectors such as oil and gas, Australia has an opportunity to create new jobs and boost the wider supply chain of Australian businesses whose cooperation is so necessary to the success of large-scale industry.
I will be joining representatives from several key associations to discuss how government can take action to facilitate a stable, attractive investment environment that can unlock necessary growth to stimulate Australian recovery.
These representatives come from a diverse array of associations, including the Corporate Tax Association Assistant Director Paul Suppree; Australian Food and Grocery Council CEO Tanya Barden; Australian Constructors Association CEO Jon Davies; Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chief Economist Ross Lambie; and American Chamber of Commerce in Australia CEO April Palmerlee in an event facilitated by Sky News Business Editor Ticky Fullerton.
