Are you frustrated with the 30% cuts taken by the App Store? You're not alone in feeling that way. Both Google Play Store and Apple App Store are currently facing significant risks, as the trend shifts from UI-based apps to conversation-based experiences. Gradually, many apps will be replaced by text-driven processes.
The rise of ChatGPT plugins is a perfect example of this transition. When these plugins were introduced, the developers who partnered with them demonstrated a keen understanding of user needs.
Consider travel planning as an example. GPT-4 can effortlessly create a personalized itinerary based on a prompt like, "I'd like to travel from London to New York between May and August 2023. I don't want to make more than one layover, but I'm open to a 1-2 day break at the layover location, especially if there are beautiful beaches." Comparing this prompt to the predefined fields in a traditional search engine like Skyscanner highlights the power of ChatGPT.
The ask-answer-ask reply model in ChatGPT enables continuous iteration of your search so that you can effectively navigate the search space and find precisely what you're looking for. If you're not satisfied with the response, just let the AI know, and it will intelligently adapt its suggestions to better suit your preferences.
Subsequent searches on Google may not always yield the results you need due to the way PageRank algorithm functions, focusing on singular searches. In comparison, GPT-4 offers a more adaptive experience, as it understands your thought process and helps refine your keywords for an improved search output. This is why the Bing Preview integrated with ChatGPT has emerged as an impressive search product. Even though Bing may not consistently deliver results comparable to Google, it does bring up accurate information on the 4th or 5th pages, which ChatGPT retrieves for you. ChatGPT itself has acknowledged that its integration with Google would work even better.
When asked which search engine, Google or Bing, might be more helpful if fed with domain-specific knowledge and expertise, ChatGPT responded that as an AI language model, it doesn't have personal preferences. However, it did provide an analysis based on general reputation and features. Google is the leading search engine with a larger market share, known for providing more relevant results, while Bing has unique features and algorithms that also offer valuable information. Both can contribute to enhancing domain-specific knowledge and expertise, and using a combination of the two could yield more comprehensive and diverse information.
Due to Microsoft's stake in OpenAI, the company cannot officially pursue a strategy that combines Google and ChatGPT. However, individual developers can now build such a product. Even though there have been some failed attempts in creating Chrome extensions to bring these tools together, a carefully designed system with ample computational power can lead to the creation of a disruptive search engine in no time. The best part is that neither Google nor Bing can prevent this development – they have constraints that hinder certain actions. But as an individual developer, you have the opportunity to rapidly build groundbreaking technology.
ChatGPT thrives on data, whether it's searching for information on the internet through Bing or looking up flights by using meta search travel APIs. It is constantly craving and utilizing data to enhance its capabilities. The technology currently available to humanity is truly astounding.
Side note: Although I missed the opportunity to discuss this in my previous post, I want to share a human-ChatGPT experiment I've been developing recently. After working diligently, I'm proud to present an affordable and accessible way to use GPT-4 on the go, with 50% savings compared to ChatGPT Plus. Introducing my ChatGPT keyboard, featuring a solid design, ease of use, and a 7-day free trial now available at https://keymate.gumroad.com/l/KeyMateAIGPT4iosKeyboard
Since ChatGPT aims to disrupt Apple and Google in terms of App Store and search simultaneously, they have not yet published an app. Although web apps are useful, our keyboard takes your user experience to the next level, transforming you into a superhuman by eliminating the need for app-switching or using ChatGPT imitation apps. Our keyboard is bolstered with GPT-4 and has the potential to disrupt multiple applications and technologies, including:
领英推荐
- Supporting 60+ languages
- Replacing Grammarly for grammar corrections
- Substituting Google Translate (no more app-switching)
- Outdoing Quillbot for professional writing prompts
- Providing CBT or Schema therapy-based self-help
- Guiding workouts and personal fitness
- Offering dietary advice and meal planning
- Crafting quick-reply emails
- Aiding social media planning and refinement
- Teaching new topics and skills (e.g., swimming the butterfly stroke)
- Generating personalized poems and greetings
- Responding to loved ones with predefined templates
Our future plans for KeyMate Keyboard and ChatGPT include incorporating plugins, enhancing AI assistant capabilities with Google and OpenAI, providing meta template search, and introducing proactive ChatGPT conversations.
