The Apology

???? A simple apology has the power to heal.? To repair; mend, and sooth; It has been known to fix broken hearts and change a disposition.? It can save.? The simple words “I’m sorry” can alter one’s life; it can change a second; a minute and thus effect life.? Relationships can be altered and saved; destroyed or created.? An apology is powerful.

? ? ? An Apology is a ritual; not just a nicety.? It doesn’t have to be the one who caused the need for an apology to say it.? It just needs to be said; then it is heard.? It shows respect and empathy for someone who believes they have been wronged.? The lack of an apology can be harmful.? By apologizing; you have disarmed others of anger; resentment and pain.? It is clearly the route to start clearing misunderstandings and prevent further ones.? An apology cannot undo what is already done; but it can undo the negative effects.?

?The receiver of the apology will feel they have been heard.? They will no longer feel threatened and move past their anger.? They can move from the past and support empathy.? Empathy and compassion both help in forgiveness.? New images are created when the veils of bitterness and anger are drawn away.? New perspectives allow one to forgive and learn from their experiences.? We are all human and like to be treated fairly.
